I posted this in another thread but it bears repeating. Why this reached epic heights. Not justification but clarification:

The things I think of...Saban still has a one up on Les who by all accounts is a much better person.

So much talent but no NC to show for it. I really think this was our year to make the run.

I guess it's hard to come to terms with "our run" at a title being over for some time. I realize anything could happen but we lose a lot of talent.

I feel awful for great players and people like Hester, Flynn, Doucet, Dorsey, Stelz, etc. I really wanted a NC for those guys!

I can't believe this team that took the field today was playing for a National championship. There was no fire no passion until 3rd quarter. Are you kidding me ---- 7/22 in the first half? There is an outside chance that Georgia can make it to the National Championship game and I am now pulling for an SEC team to show the nation how tough it is. I also live in SoCal so I am more than disgusted. WVA loses, Miss beats Kansas and then loses to Ohklahoma. It could happen.

This season has demonstrated what we all know - it's HARD to win a National Championship.

And that's why I celebrated 2003 with every fiber of my soul.

Someday we'll get back to the NC. But not today.

We still have the SECCG and the Sugar Bowl to look forward to - and I AM looking forward to both games with great enthusiasm. A 12-2 season is a very, very respectable year and I'll not feel bad about that. :eek:ldskule::eek:ldskule:

Especially when your red zone defense is so bad, just thought I'd remind you
since you brought up how good our defense use to be.
    So what happened?

Weep not. They had their chances. Didn't happen. Nobody to point the finger at but themselves, and lady luck, and she's a bitch sometimes.

It's not hard. Without a playoff, it's luck modified by preseason rankings.

Well, here's what happened. That giant pile of krap, Chaz Ramsey of Auburn took Dorsey's legs away from him. The last 5 games I've watched, it seems like the opposing QB has time to spread a towel and have himself a picnic while he waits for somebody to get open. Dorsey hasn't been able to blow the middle open and free up ends and linebackers since that mutt chop-blocked him, and that change in the defense has filtered into everything they do.

Injuries happen, you just hate to see the best player in the country get taken out by a brutal cheap shot like that. I hope Ramsey gets run over by a bus.

and the fact that our D-coordinator refused and / or couldn't make adjustments. We may have had the fastest fall from the top D 3 weeks ago to giving up almost 1000 yards in offense the last 2 weeks.

Pelini, what happened to the pressure?

I agree that was a problem. Dorsey clearly was not the same after the chop. Pelini seemed to run the same defense. He may have had to gamble a little more, or they were betting on the O to win the games. But even back in Kentucky, we didn't get pressure on the QB and he ate us up.

The team didn't play well at all, even with the usual slow start considered. I had a bad, bad feeling going into this game and unfortunately I was proven right. It stings like a mother, especially since this was my last time in Tiger Stadium as a student. :(
