Just got back from the game and WOW! This game was not nearly as close as the score LSU dominated from the get go. The crowd was totally into it and as loud as any in recent memory. A couple of points. There were 2 major tasks that needed to happen if the Tigers were to rebound. 1) The revamped OL dominated the vaunted SC D. There were 2 freshmen I love me someTrai Turner and V Alexander)on the right side plowed the USCe defense and allowed us to control the TOP 37min to 23 min. Give a little love to Stud who seems to have made lemonade out of lemons 2) the receivers had to hold on to the ball. I did not see 1 drop. I don't know who those guys were but it was great to watch. What can you say about the D? It was magnificent. Big Sam, and the whole D line gave Lattimore nothing (34 yds on 13 carries) and with the exception of the 1 breakdown in pass D that gave SC its 2 TD and the prevent TD drive in the 4t, SC had nothing. They needed the pass interception and punt return to sniff the end zone. I glanced through the game comments and many called for more passes especially in the red zone. Those in the stands wanted more runs. Guys we smashed the Cocks D and wore them down. I thought the game was well called. by the coaches. Was it perfect? no Red zone issues are a worry. That could bite us but some of the stops were great plays by the SC d. Sometimes the other side makes good plays. Hey we saw a little bit of the Lesticles when he went for it on 4th down. I think as great as we played much goes to the home field. The fans were loud and into it the whole game. SC struggled on offense with the noise. I also think it gives some reason to our performance last week. Fla field is loud as well and it made it hard for our O to perform as our noise inhibited the Cocks. I will say this game did much to restore my hope for the season. It is just 1 game and means little if we don't carry this forward. However it show what we are capable of and as I said in an earlier post the injuries and issues are n longer an valid excue. These Tigers accepted their charge and performed. If we do then Nov 3 will be all we expected.
good points and I agree with you. Only thing I would point out is that I thought OBJ should have caught that ball for a first down he had to jump for. He got both hands on it and anytime you get both hands on the ball you need to bring it down. It was a big 3rd down, and he was too worried about getting hit than bringing it down. Especially with a quarterback who needs his receivers to step up and is hanging in there taking hits himself.
Agreed, and didn't SC score on their ensuing possession after we punted? I can't recall but I think so.
Woulda been a great catch but definitely not expected. Body position was twisted every which way and he was hung out to dry.
