LSU has not had much recruiting success in the Palmetto State, but the Tigers likely will get a commitment this week from wide receiver J.J. Suber (6-4, 210) of Newberry. “LSU is sending an offer in the mail, and I plan to commit when I get it,” Suber said Sunday. Suber also has an offer from North Carolina; USC, Auburn and Tennessee have shown interest.
Maybe Suber is confused and he doesn't really have a committable offer. It doesn't seem like we could be certain whether or not we are getting Bell or another big fish even in 2 or 3 weeks. It is rather odd to offer a somewhat unknown WR this early with our history of getting top flight guys and only a few spots to fill.
That's my guess... I thought we'd only take 2 WRs this year (especially since Tolliver qualified), but it is looking more & more like we'll take 3 (and we can count Bell & Randle as LSU locks). Just because this guy is an unknown to us doesn't mean he's an unknown to the coaches. I haven't seen Mike or Sonny comment on this guy, but I have to assume that he's been to one of our camps and done very well if he's got an offer.
Obviously he doesn't, cuz he said he would be a Tiger as soon as he gets that piece of paper in his hands.
Question: If we have the inside track on the Highest rated wide receivers in Louisiana, where are all these other guys(Calhoun, Suber) coming from?? Calhoun is a Georgia top thirty & Randle & Bell are in Louisiana's Top 5-6. Are those guys better than ours?? Its hard - no impossible for me to keep up with our coachs & what they are thinking from day to day..
The staff is holding open a position for Reuben Randle. That much we know. A spot for Kenny Bell is probably there too. Calhoun is an ATH who looks to be either a WR or CB. I have to think LSU hasn't offered him yet because of those guy ahead of him and some others showing interest in LSU like Marlon Brown.
I think if we steal Marlon Brown (plus Randle and Bell), then we will probably push for Calhoun to play DB.
