"One point about the BCS title game: The Ducks lost on a last-second field goal, gained 449 yards vs. Auburn and held the Tigers to their second lowest point total of the season. This notion they got pushed around has taken on a life of its own, even though it's divorced from reality." -Ted Miller Although an ESPN blogger is far from football gospel, just saying that it's not just me saying it.
Dear Mr Miller, They couldn't find a way to win the game. That is happily married to reality. No one said they didn't play well. Blog that. Jeez. WIN!!! It's soooo simple.
... CONTEXT. Let me educate you kids… Here in the SEC, pushed around refers to THE LINES OF SCRIMAGE………….. AU had 254 yards on the ground and 265 in the Air. Its all about line play when we TALK about being pushed around. It is also more of the reason we say that win the battle up front, win the game. We don’t expect pac10 folk to understand because to YOU, the more points you have, the better the team…. I mean AM I RIGHT? Oregon had…….. 75 yard on the ground……………. 75 75 75
Oregon is a VERY talented team, but AU did what we thought they would do….. WIN THE BATTLE UP FRONT……..
FYI, I wouldn't boast about dropping 400+ yards on AU considering their Chitty secondary which ranked 108th in the country....... Even more evidence of winning the battle up front..... So, congrats...
Yeah, and Auburn, easily one of the SEC's worst defenses last season, held the turbocharged Oregon to their lowest point total of the season. Good luck when you face a real SEC D. Should be fun, can't wait. Other than that, welcome, glad you're here.
I don't think Darren Thomas gets enough props. Consider, that he redshirted last year, and had only a few minutes in one game, the year before. A sophomore with essentially no college game experience, leads his team to an undefeated season, culminating in the BCS National Championship Game. Although he made some poor decisions/reads, especially early in the contest. He was fantastic during the ultra-critical; TD drive, and 2 point conversion, which tied the game. Bravo, DT
The Ducks have lost 3 games in two years. Each time it seemed like I was watching some foreign team that I'd never seen before. Maybe we do lack the horses needed to win champion level games. I know we could win these games. But, I want to win all of them! Oregon is recruiting well, we have more size every year. Maybe not enough though. A pack of steamrollers would sure help the odds. There are indications Coach Kelly might be adjusting the offense in the future. 2012 recruit QB, Jake Rodrigues is different Reputed to be a tremendous passer, he throws exclusively from the shotgun, and rarely runs. I've heard that Chip has gone ape-sh*t over this guy. I think it's going to take a different type of lineman to protect him. What will Chip do? Nobody knows,...........our Coach invents stuff. Chip Kelly is a mad scientist!
Thomas will get his. Hopefully not against us but he stepped in and to say he got the job done is an understatement. Smart athletic high character guy. And yes even though smug, Kelly is obviously a great coach. I remember a guy like that terrorizing the sec for years. Wanna take a guess? Anyway, as we have said many times here, Oregon has a great team but it starts in the trenches and that is the name of the game in the sec. Oregon IMO isn't quite there yet as far as taking down a bama, Florida, or LSU. They didn't pass the test against Auburn but the silver lining for the ducks is sept 3rd. Hopefully they fail that test too Go tigers!
