First off, I want to say congrats on your win last night. I know some of you are worried about how some of the problems your Tigers experienced last night are worrisome, but from a Husky perspective, I wouldn't worry too much. Unlike several of your fellow SEC teams, you played an opponent who challenged you and exposed some holes in an otherwise fine team. The positive out of this is that you now know what must be fixed, what must change for you to capture the SEC West and face Florida for the SEC title. Another plus, if you do make the adjustments needed and make it to face Florida, you've already prevailed against Tim Tebow West (aka Locker), and Locker didn't even run out of shotgun the entire night. I wish I could have been in Seattle for the game, it would have been great to experience what is probably the best Tailgating tradition and location on the west coast, mixed with the Tailgating Traditions of LSU and other SEC schools that we always hear about. Anyway, congrats on your hard fought win, and good luck over the rest of the season. I honestly hope you do make it to the NC game (preferably against USC so that debate could be settled once and for all). Go Huskies, and Geaux Tigers!
Thanks for stopping by. I think your new coach and attitude have you pointed in the right direction. Your QB was great. You guys had some bad breaks but I see you making a dent in the PAC 10. Good luck. We have things to address but I think we'll be ok. Take it to USC for us. :thumb:
You were supposed to be pitiful and allow LSU to stomp a mudhole in you so we could make fun of how bad you were and how great LSU is. Ya'll have a lot of nerve making us look bad. Sure we won, but that's not enough. We can't even show our faces around the SEC now. Are you happy?
Thanks for the kind words. :thumb: You guys gave us all we wanted and then some. Good luck the rest of the season.
Maverickuw, Thanks for stopping by and a great post. If you haven't found them, there are many posts mixed in these theads giving props to the Huskies for being much improved team vs. last season when it is obvious that injuries limited what the team could accomplish. We were impressed with Locker and Polk at RB. You played with great spirit, and your coaches were impressive to watch. I'm not sure we are the #11 team in the country, but if we are, you win more than six games this year for sure. Your stadium looked to be rocking on TV. Good luck to the Huskies the rest of the season!!! PS - stop back by this season!
Thanks for a very nice, classy post. Everyone got so hung up on the 0-12 thing, it was obvious even listening to our post-game radio crew last night. That was last season, this is now, apples to oranges. I think some of our fans are reluctant to admit we went up against a good team last night. Sarkisian is a good coach and is going to work wonders for UW's offense. As I stated in another thread, Locker is the real deal, and I'd be surprised if yall finish under .500 in conference. This thought ran through my mind throughout the game. UW is the closest we'll get to seeing a real spread until Florida. Locker is faster than Tebow, and has a better arm. UW's receivers are also on par with Florida's talent level. We can take away a lot of lessons from this game. Here's wishing the best of luck the rest of the season. And give USC hell.
Very classy post bro... congrats on a good game and good luck on the season. I hope you win the PAC10. Guess I was still seeing UW as the winless team they were last season... but yall are very much improved.
We'd love to add a great Husky poster to our forum. Please stick around and keep us up-to-date on the UW campaign. You gave us all we wanted to handle and more last night. Sarkisian looks like he's gonna make some noise in the PAC 10, and I cannot say enough about how tough Locker was. In spite of many folks wanting to say our defense sucked, there were times when we were in position to make the play, and he just beat us. He probably was very good practice for us in regards to Tebow, and perhaps, as has been suggested in other posts, it's a blessing in disguise that this game exposed some weaknesses for our staff. Last year's opener against Appy State didn't afford us that.
First off, thanks for the words and well-wishes. I don't know that either of us could say that the game was "great"--it was a typical "sloppy-at-times" first game of the season for both. Second, HOW ON EARTH were you guys 0-12 last season????? Too much talent on that team, IMO to go through and entire season 0-fer! Polk looked good running the ball and Locke is a special player. Your WR's are no sloutch either. I think if UW can avoid the penalties that plagued them last night, you have a better than fair shot at upsetting some of the Pac-10 front-runners. Now that the game is over, I can wholeheartedly say that I'm pulling for you guys to win every game from here on out! :thumb: BEAT USC!!!!
It's easy. 1) Polk lasted a game and a half at best. Locker lasted 3 1/2. Most of those WRs were true freshmen last year. In fact Johnson, 6 catches 63 yards and who caught some of those 3rd and longs IS a true freshman. 2) By the time last season started, our players were out of shape and our coaching staff were closer to "guys paid to look unhappy on the sidelines" than actual coaches. The players gave up on the coaches, and with the old regime making Locker 80% of our offense, themselves once they realized that the coaches couldn't coach them into the endzone even if there was no defense on the opposite side of the field. Sabanfan, I thought you guys in SEC country liked football games. If I wanted to watch 2 minutes of football followed by a 58 minute highlight film, I'd watch ESPN news. Last night was a real football game and I think everyone enjoyed it. For those talking about how good Locker is, he actually also is tough. He holds a singular distinction in NCAA football. In 2007, he got a vicious hit to the head/neck area in our game against Oregon State. He left the field in a neck brace on an Ambulance. He was on the sideline cheering the team on before the game was over, first player taken out by ambulance to even return to the stadium before the game ended. And for those who thought our crowd was into it and the stadium was shaking pretty good at points... remember, that wasn't a sellout crowd and it came after a 0-12 season. The SEC has a great tradition of loud stadium environments where the fans are totally into it, but back in the day Husky Stadium was considered one of the toughest places to play, and hopefully will be again! All in all, I look forward to our trip to you in 2012. Locker will be gone, but Nick Montana should be a redshirt sophomore in his 2nd season starting, and if he's anything like his dad, and these coaches continue building up the way they've shown already, 2012 should be a hell of a game. And we'll try and knock down USC, with them coming off of Ohio State, it may be enough.
