What does that have to do with anything? Really? Oregon was ranked #1. great. And they played in the NC. Great. Means nothing when related to this year. Sounds to me that you may be jealous of Oregon's recent success... Ranked higher than LSU last year, and played in the NC, then ranked higher than LSU this year. No respect for the Tigers and the SEC, right? Rankings don't mean squat if you can't back it up. Oregon will back it up, LSU will too. Oregon may or may not win, but it'll be one helluva game.
It doesn't mean anything. Oregon is an up and coming team and I imagine they will be ranked #1 more times in the future. But are you really gloating about the fact that Oregon is ranked higher in the preseason right now?

If I was gloating, I wouldn't have followed it up with "Rankings don't matter if you can't back it up".
What I meant was it was more valid to compare college teams on the basis of what they/their players did collegiately. Apples and apples, no?
