What do you remember, like, associate, etc. with your freshman year of LSU football? I will forever associate the smell of grain alcohol with attending those games. I also remember LSU beating the University of Washington 40 - 14 and being part of a crowd that broke the then attendance record.
The Earthquake. You're old as dirt, by the way. I remember that 40-14 game against Washington. Wickersham was QB, no? Hard to remember...I was just starting to walk.:hihi:
That was my senior year, and I had my Dad with me in the student section (right in front of the band and the Golden Girls). Amazing game. Freshman year (1984)- I just remember being in awe of the experience, and I also remember basketball was a huge deal during that time - maybe bigger than football in some ways. Come to think of it, the two things that resonate most are the GBFTL (I still get goose bumps and a racing heart EVERY SINGLE TIME) and newspapers at basketball game team introductions.
That you son? Remember I can still kick your @ss :hihi: Yes, if my "old" memory serves me correctly, LSU was unranked and Wash was ranked in the top 10 at the time. Wickersham played a good game. Wickersham trivia: What movie did Wick have a role in ?
Ah yes, September '74, I remember it well. My first semester @ Ole War Skule. After growing up in BR and going to LSU home games since I was 7, went to my first away game ever, Rice in Houston with some friends. We had beat Colorado and then lost to A&M in Tiger Stadium, sitting at 1-1. We played like crap against Rice and barely managed a 10-10 tie. Coming out of the game, we were saying to the other LSU fans that we were 1 (index finger)-1(other index finger) and 1 (middle finger). We were p*ssed, but were invited to an after game party on the Rice campus, which turned to be a blast. I hooked up with a hottie from Tyler at the party after a coupla beers for a game of grab@ss, good times yeah, 17 years old and buzzed. 'Course, the drinkin' age was 18 back then. Drove back to BR to see Elton John Sunday night at the Assembly Center, great show. We started the season at #9, climbed to #7 after the Colo. win, dropped to #17 after the loss to A&M, and disappeared from the polls the rest of the season after the Rice tie. It was a miserable 5-5-1 year. We had to drink a lot to forget that season.
Tommy Hodson's debut routing the Aggies. Sitting in student section was a blast. I had ushered LSU football games as a scout since I was 11yrs old so I was used to the atmosphere inside of Death Valley and the smell of tobacco and liquor. Also the pregame will always give me goosebumps.
That one's easy. Beating Florida when they came into Tiger Stadium ranked #1 in the nation coming off the '96 NC, 28-21. And that would be the only good memory associated with the LSU/Florida series for many years.
