you wont even answer my questions. you refuse to have an opinion when your opinion is clearly stupid. you wont answer if it is true that georg lucas is reprehensible if he causes sith lords to blow up theaters or if batman is wrong for a portrayal of the joker that inspired the denver killer. if you has the stones to answer these questions, you would acknowledge that i am right. i dont expect you to accept my assertion that free speech is everything, the most important thing, because yu think public perception and opinion polls make right about everything. but at least try to see what i mean about proper bame assessment.
Exactly my point; he wasn't reacting to the "hate speech". He was reacting to the reaction to the hate speech. And Martin's point earlier was bang on-target. You don't tell criminals that you understand why they are criminals. If the average muslim on the street is not rioting in reaction to the film, why does he need to be pacified? Why do muslims always have to be placated when someone expresses an anti-muslim sentiment? Why do we never hear the president pacifying Christians over the endless bilge of anti-Christian rhetoric we always here? These are strictly rhetorical questions that don't need a response. We all know the answer already.
exactly: martin's law: for any ethnic or religious group or race ot ethicity or even friend, you can judge how worthwhile they are by judging the extent to which they do not get mad when you make fun of them. idiot egyptian muslim kills you when you make fun of him. your buddy the irish drunk buys you a pint when you mock him and his religion and culture.
AND THEY DID! “We understand why people take offense to this video because millions of our citizens are among them. I know there are some who ask why don't we just ban such a video. The answer is enshrined in our laws. Our Constitution protects the right to practice free speech. Here in the United States, countless publications provoke offense. Like me, the majority of Americans are Christian, and yet we do not ban blasphemy against our most sacred beliefs. In 2012, at a time when anyone with a cell phone can spread offensive views around the world with the click of a button, the notion that we can control the flow of information is obsolete. The question, then, is how we respond. And on this we must agree: There is no speech that justifies mindless violence. There are no words that excuse the killing of innocents. There is no video that justifies an attack on an embassy. There is no slander that provides an excuse for people to burn a restaurant in Lebanon, or destroy a school in Tunis, or cause death and destruction in Pakistan. Understand, America will never retreat from the world. We will bring justice to those who harm our citizens and our friends, and we will stand with our allies." -- Obama UN address. Maybe we should invade and occupy 26 muslims countries. That always works. WTF are you actually suggesting should have been done? Only no one has questioned his right to make the film. Not Obama, not Clinton, not me. What exactly are you complaining about? Nobody is questioning free speech. They are questioning the irresponsibility of an Egyptian Christian to take advantage of our laws to inflame and provoke unrest among muslim allies and enemies alike. They are understandably obligated to explain that it does not represent the policies of the nation. This is not abridgement of free speech nor censorship. It is itself free speech.
To be honest Red, I don't think we should have even addressed it, with the exception of calling them out for attacking our embassy. That video was made by a dude in Egypt, so why even bring it up on our end.
I have stated my opinion clearly and repeatedly. Your questions a childishly stupid and irrelevant to the point in question. I understand why you wish to change the subject, your argument is lousy. I do not. You are a liar. I bame you. You are narrow of vision, purpose, and credibility.
Because the US was being blamed for it! Have you been paying attention? There have been anti-US protests all over and you think the President should have just ignored it?
Let me clarify, the government shouldn't have said anything about the video. Especially since it didn't even come from this country. What we should have done was gotten a few black hawks there to extract all Americans, and then met with Benghazi rebels on the low on how to erradicate the ones responsible for this act.
I know the US was being blamed for it, but you don't have to defend yourself from every ridiculous accusation.
