SMU has been looking for something, anything to draw some attention to their program. Like Rice and TCU, pro football and television killed local interest. Craig James seems to be the only talking head regularly mentioning the Ponies and that's only because he's an alum (and the only player in those days not to get a car or cash). It's a dead end job, in a dead end program, that only looks good when compared to that sterling hire last year by that uptown football factory, the Willow Street Weenies. Oooo, I just can feel the build up to that Iron Skillet (I think that's what it is called) battle next season.
