They can pay more for newsletters.

eATMe still has to pay him 1.7M next season, meaning he'll be in the 3.5-4M range for coaching friggin SMU next year. Unreal.

If his severance package is like any other in today's time, they'll pay the difference of what the settlement was. I doubt he'll get the full payment from A&M.

If he does, A&M wanted him out bad, and then!

Might be a good fit there. One hell of a recruiter, a horrible game day coach... Might be something that SMU needs, just someone who can fill the team with quality players

Having watched him up close for two years I say the complete opposite. Bad recruiter. He doesn't have the ability to look at a team, evaluate what he needs, and move in those directions.

At Bama, he did a hell of a job with game day preparations. What I saw him lack 2 or 3 times was making the right adjustments at half time. But, game prep was one of his strong suits.

What's being missed but has been pointed out often was his inability to handle the pressures that come with football programs in football schools. In smaller pressure environments, he does well. He couldn't handle the pressure at Bama and couldn't handle the pressure at A&M.

SMU looks like a good fit for him. Conference USA isn't going to bring the hype or pressure that the Big12 and SEC has year in and year out.

That isn't what I was implying. What I was saying is I'm fairly positive his settlement is structured that he would receive the 1.7M unless he finds employment comparable. Then, it would be the difference in the two figures. If SMU pays him a mill a year, then A&M is only looking at 700K until the original contract is over.

Most are structured this way. IF this one isn't...that's why I said A&M wanted him out, BAD and didn't care what it cost.
