All of the local sports shows here in New Orleans are saying that Coach Miles has offered the Tenn. Asst. the job. !twocrystals!
Would be nice to lock him up very soon. Give him time to recruit during bowl preparations and get into the homes of Lache, Blue, Wright, Reed, Mike Davis, Maclin, and Hunter. I am just assuming he would get a chance to visit all these guys. There are reports that he is in LA this week anyway recruiting, so I am sure Miles and Alleva have met with him already. One thing we know is that he has worked under the pressure of getting into the recruiting game for a new school with all of his recent short stints. I am thinking he will probably be taken on as a RB coach/assistant recruiting coordinator. I don't think Yano is going anywhere at this time. He also has the most experience coaching RBs even though he is currently the WR coach at UT. He coached RBs at Ole Miss for 3 years and another year at Southern Miss.
I really don't like this guy. For you guys who don't know...their is history with him and this program when Saban was here. Saban basically was going to hire him. Wilson was using Buster Davis as a way into the program and then Saban basically sent hm on his way because he didn't like how he was handling the situation. He tried to weasel his way in. He doesn't stay at jobs long. Hes Ogre's friend, which says a lot about his character, just look at how hes handled his situation at other schools. Leaving early is a telling sign at just the type of person he is. Hes literally been on job for one month. Hes barely out of being a HS coach, I'm not sold on his coaching abilities. I think hes a incredibly overrated recruiter. Name me some big name recruits hes got outside of Johnson? Who, goes to his school he use to coach. I guess he would land him. He has a history of confrontations with his players. If you watched Tenn a few weeks ago, you would see what I'm talking about on national TV. His WRs were chewing him out. So, why should we hire him? Their is much more qualified RB coaches out there. Hes too high risk at this point. This hire makes no sense for Miles, IMO. We need both recruiters and coaches. I think hes the opposite of what we want. I also think he and Miles will not like each other, polar opposite personalities. I expect him for a year and that is it. I see this as more of a move to help lockdown Louisiana next year, then send him on the road. I don't like that. Our program shouldn't be on its knees for this guy or any recruit. We don't need him to recruit Louisiana next year. Nobody is bigger than our players or program. Really isn't fair to risk our player development to recruit better in LA. That is just my 2 cents. /rant off
I am not going to say you are wrong about your concerns because a lot of LSU fans are concerned. I personally feel that most of the negative feelings come from his recruiting in LA for other programs and his short stints which is understandable. I think he could provide insight on RBs and WRs at LSU as well as helping get our recruiting momentum back on track. I think he would be happy here and get paid enough to stay for longer than 2 years. I hear he does want to be an OC one day and eventually a head coach and 3 years is the average for an assistant coach anyway. He has very strong ties to New Orleans, Miss, and across the SEC territories. Tenn uses him as one of their closers with many of their prospects like he did at Ole Miss. I know he did a good job developing McCluster and Green Ellis (back to back 1000 yard seasons) and had the leading rusher is CUSA while at USM. He also helped pull Risean Broussard before he decommitted to go to LA Tech because he didn't have the grades to make it in the SEC. I believe he also pulled in that WR to USM that we lost to USM and who later broke his leg. USM also had their highest rated recruiting class in their history the one year he was there. Dan Mullen from UF who I think is going to be a great coach at MSU or elsewhere also liked his ability in recruiting and coaching RBs. Here is a link to a UT write up on his history: Assistant coach series: Football only part of project for Wilson GoVolsXtra
If Frank Wilson leaves Tennessee, I guess that will open up a spot on the coaching staff at Tennessee for Janzen Jackson's dad. What a wonderful thing for a father and son to be together !!:dis:. And just think...maybe the plunger rapist's father can coach there too.. (We need a puke emoticon badly !!!!!) PS I don't think a coach who is part of that regime at Tennessee belongs at LSU either!!
Well everyone was going nuts on the thought of getting Orgeron last year. Wilson can't be any dirtier than him can he? I would be ok if we got Wilson.
Bhelm, I think you're referring to Hughes(I think that was his name) on the USM staff that made us lose out on Deandre Brown. LSU was actually going to put that guy on our staff at the end of last year but he went elsewhere.
I know about Hughes and have always wanted him at LSU. But I just read somewhere that Wilson was recruiting Brown as well at USM.
Frank Wilson will be a great pickup if we get him. BhelmLSU, are we getting close to an signing Coach Wilson to a contract? If we don't get Seastrunk I think Coach Wilson will get Blue from Hahnville. But I am hoping Wilson will get both. Here is an nice article that the position will be filled quickly and it could be Coach Wilson: http://www.2theadvocate.com/blogs/tigertracks !twocrystals! !twocrystals!
