You've never seen those take a bike/ Leave a bike deals? Hell I see them everywhere. Cities and schools have them in lots of places.
Due to Miles' punushment, this kid will be too tired to ride a bike. Hell he may never touch a bike again.
Well what I'm taking from this is clearly he is going to be a starter or major contributor. Hence our beloved coach will choose to handle discipline internally, let the team decide his fate, make him run, say what a fine young man he really is, etc. Were he a marginal player or kicker, he'd be suspended or kicked off the team. Seen this movie before. C'mon coach, you're better than that.
C'mon TB70 he has twice kicked the best player on the team off the team. Les has not shied from disciplining his best players in a manner costly to the team's chance of winning. That was a cheap shot.
In these types of cases, I try to convince myself that Miles is helping the kids mature and creating better young adults for society. If he just kicks them off with no second chance, they are much more likely to go down the wrong path. Every player and situation is different though so it's hard for me to form an educated opinion without knowledge of every detail. Regarding Shane's "borrow a bike" comment, it reminded me of the Seinfeld episode when George asked why anyone would ever buy an umbrella since every cafe has them near the door (especially on rainy days).
