Maybe the coaches want someone on the team to take on that leadership role, so they're sitting back waiting to see who that will be. It's the only logical reason I can think of that they haven't done anything about it thus far. Obviously, there's a ton of youth on this team, so leaders have to emerge and it looks like #7 is taking the mantle. I know on previous teams, like '07 and '11, the coaching staff rarely had to say anything because the players took ownership of the team, so to speak, and they would handle anyone half assing it in practice or in games. Just a thought

Yes, only I don't think those were the 2nd teamers. There were still a lot of starters on the field.

motivation and human nature is a huge part in sports especially college football since intensity is so key. its easily recognizable if you follow more than one team closely and you can see it happens everywhere.

some people will just refuse to believe it. because we think players are as excited as us every saturday ; like we have been almost every saturday for our entire lives as a spectator.

however, playing big-time sports for these athletes is a job. a real grind. and we wont ever get it. I dont get it. But i do accept it. its just the reality of it.

The 2 big drives happened with Kendall Beckwith sitting out plays. Leonard Fournette may be LSU's MVP. But a case can be made for KB as well. There is a far larger drop off from Beckwith to his back up than there is from Fournette to his.

We, as fans, don't even get that excited about playing the likes of EMU, either. We get pumped for big games much more than the ones against scrubs. The players are the same way.

My friend who played for the 49ers in the 90's surprised me when he talked about not really loving football; it was a way to make a good living, but it was a job, not a game.

Kenny Mixon was the same way. It was a job to him. He used to tell us he hated playing. But he was so gifted athletically it was pathetic. A defensive lineman that also placed 1st in 4A hurdles at state. Unbelievable.

True and teams usually need more than one leader and definitely someone from the defense as well

For sure, Andre Agassi hated tennis. His dad made him play and it just became what he did.

We played a ton of reserves on those drives, the entire second string was in at one point.

Tiger Woods has always looked that way to me, too. Golf does not seem to bring him any joy.

And where did we get gashed? Where Beckwith and Jones would have been.
