It's per conference. Taking the starting RB for each NFC team, not taking into account if they started all year, that'd be 5th or 6th out of 16. Not what I'd want for a 1st Rd pick I traded up to get. No 1000 yd seasons. Can't stay healthy. He'd be ok if we got him in the 3rd or 4th.
Totally agree. Like I keep saying I wish we would have kept Ivory or Sproles. Ivory was by far the best value IMO.
Ivory couldn't stay healthy either. I don't think that would've been wise. Our salary cap has been so mismanaged. I don't know what Sproles was asking for, but we should've kept him. I think Ingram progressed this year in the screen game but regressed in the run game a little bit. I'm sure some of that is on the o-line. You don't need a superstar RB in the today's NFL. Look at the past SB champs: Pitt, Indy, NE, Saints, GB, Giants, Ravens, Seattle. No superstar RBs except Marshawn Lynch. Seattle is still a SB competitor without him as you can clearly see this year. Unless you are an every year contender like NE, Sea, Pitt etc.. and that RB falls into your lap in the draft, I wouldn't go RB in the 1st or even spend more than $5 million tops on a RB. Too much money tied into the position with the shortest shelf life and the greatest risk of injury these days. sorry ya'll. This thread is suppose to be about Fournette. My passion runs deep for the Saints too.
I never said mediocre. I said, hasn't lived up to expectations. In terms of talent evaluation, most people think the bloom is off the rose with Loomis/Payton these days, but they were still the bee's knees 5 years ago when they traded up for Ingram. So yeh, people expected a lot from him. He's rarely delivered. I say that based on my personal observations, and I never miss a Saints' game. You say you barely follow the NFL, so what's your basis for defending him?
Mediocre for a contracted AP back is exactly what I would describe him as. Don't mind having him, just think some of that money should have gone to keeping Sproles.
