Not since those Lake Charley days but, yeah, had dat too. Dam clap doctor knew our lil gang by name. Every trip was worth the price of admission though.
I tell ya what I have, is 3 kids and about 1/4 of the time I used to have to waste on this hear (sic) forum.
:hihi: Don't know why I like you, you do make me laugh though. And ain't that the truth about the pie being split up as far as time goes with kids. I know you're blessed with having three but DANG, I honestly don't know how people, with more than two kids, manage their time. We seem to always be running here and there for this and that. I guess we're guilty of not setting better limits but my 13 year old thinks I'm Hitler for not getting her a freakin cell phone. They take SO much for granted. She's one of the few who don't have one, I just can't see the point and she can't tell me a situation in which she REALLY needs one.
Funny, but that's the first imagine that came to mind when this started. A bunch of people sitting around a campfire, holding hands, singing Kumbaya.
Well, ppl can start by not allowing their kids to do more than one sports activity per year. Guy I used to work with logged 100K miles on his van in 3 years driving his kids around to sports events.
Guy I am watching on TV right now used his Florida St. scholarship in football as leverage to receive a huge MLB signing bonus which led to a 30+ million dollar deal a couple of years later. Generally people that focus on one sport travel a LOT more. edit: didnt notice you quoting tiga...still like my random notes.
It's definitely us to blame. Even in playing one sport, for example, my nine year old is currently playing league softball, and a travel team on weekends, then about to start ALL Stars after league but the "Travel team" ends this weekend. Just for example, we drive to Lafayette Friday evening for two pool games then back Saturday for "Bracket" play- which is the actual tournament. Then probably back Sunday...possibly one game Saturday and one Sunday cause we only have two 10's and the rest nines in a 10U division so we don't usually hang around long but we did come out third last weekend in Crowley. My thirteen year was on teams who qualified for Nationals 6 years in a row (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 years old). Last year she decided to forgo league but played with a Traveling team in the summer. This year she made the 8th grade team and stopped when their season ended, deciding not to play this summer, thankfully I don't care if they play or not and stress what they do in the classroom is WAY more important than anything they'll ever do on a field or court (Oh, did I mention they play basketball too?). I think they'll burnout though, I did. I played every sport in HS except track but didn't play football or baseball my last two cause I was just tired of the grind and though I loved the actual game, wasn't willing to pay the price of having to practice in between.
