I don't care what you say about crowd feeding off of the team- that's true, they crowd does. That being said: why are fans leaving with FIVE MINUTES LEFT AND DOWN BY SEVEN AGAINST THE NUMBER ONE TEAM IN THE COUNTRY?! That alone had me more upset than the offense. I lost my voice screaming at fans around me. We don't deserve what we have. Do LSU fans realize HOW GOOD WE HAVE IT? DO YOU REMEMBER '99?! Be thankful, because nothing is permanent. Stay in your FRIGGIN seat. Makes the rest of us fans look stupid.
I suppose you are right, maybe we should lose five games like we did last year. Lets hold off until after this season then we don't have to realize, we will know how good we have it! I understand your point but people didn't believe we had a shot at beating Florida with five minutes left or they would've stayed!
I've never understood this, but some fans always leave early--winning or losing. In this game, they waited until the game was no longer in question at least. Now, I must admit, I live a mile and a half miles from campus and I don't have to drive back to Shreveport or something and many fans do. I also don't have small children or a cranky wife that are lobbying to go home, either. But fratsters leaving early just to get started on that Saturday night kegger irritates the hell out of me.
That drives me batsh!t crazy right there!!! The last time we lost at night in TS the Bama game it was FREEZING cold and raining and me and Big Wee were damn near the ONLY people left in the student section!
I think they leave when they believe the outcome of the game is known. Mainly because of traffic. If LSU is rolling, they leave. If LSU is losing bad, they leave. if it is close, they leave first chance the can when the outcome is more obvious. Why? I suspect traffic. Congested camps with no major highways leading into campus. Mostly two lane roads for everyone to *try*to get out on efficiently. No way to paint a pretty picture, but it's just the way it is. We can complain all we want, but it will continue to happen. It's an unfortunate truth.
The message boards do attract hundreds of the idiot fans in the LSU fan base, and they especially show up after we lose a game. Same with the radio shows. As for the fans in Death Valley, at the end of the game when they were interviewing Tebow etc, I was looking at the stands and they were suprisingly full of people wearing purple and gold... and none of them were heading for the exits (even though the game was over by this point). I was proud to see this.
I gave the ten people on my row (in the student section) who filed past me with five minutes left an earful as they headed for the exits. A few came back after the pick and I calmly asked them, "Y'all back already?"
