I wouldn't go that far. Shepard needs Wildcat touches or since we can't run the wildcat right, at least basic zone-read plays.

The Wildcat will not be truly effective unless he is allowed to throw. And he is not Mcfadden or Tebow. His frame is not going to take the pounding that those guys did.

Well, if he doesn't run the ball he needs to return punts and kicks.

That would be nice. Shepard should be on the field for most offensive plays. Probably mostly at slot. I just hope if they "wildcat" him, they come up with more creative plays then the option. I am sure he will run that as well, but I won't be happy seeing him do that until he throws it a few times.

This is key. Do you remember the V. Young against USC. When he had the run/pass option using the zone-read, he had them so confused. After he faked the hand off, he could have run or thrown because the linebackers froze in place. This was not possible without the threat of a pass.

Yep. And JJ is not the man to run it. Not only did the defense not respect his ability to run, they didn't respect his ability to throw either!

I hate remembering last season. Where is September??

IMO: Ridley will start out at the primary back, with Ford being the primary backup. Murphy will continue his role as a scatback that can split out wide. However, I believe that Ford is more versatile (he's not just a between the tackles runner) than Ridley and very well may pass him up as the starter by the latter part of the season.

Keep in mind that based on Frank Wilson's history he prefers to utilize one primary back, and doesn't do RB by committee.

Of the true freshmen, Gore is the only one I think has a chance at getting any reps and considering he's not on campus yet it's unlikely. I'm very high on Ware, but apparently he's struggling with conditioning this summer so I am pretty certain he will redshirt.

As in getting adjusted to the heat. This was when it was Africa hot a few weeks ago. Not sure how he is adjusted now.
