I'm going to the roster Brian Kelly inherited. despite the rankings of the classes that SHOULD HAVE been on campus being in the top 10, the actual talent on the roster was well below Top 10. not defending it, I'm explaining how we got here. the talent level isn't nearly what you make it out to be. you seem to understand how that works when defending Coach Prime, but for some reason not when it comes to LSU. it needs to be fixed. but from a personnel standpoint, it will take time. so your savior Prime should be held accountable for having a defense even worse than ours?
Primes D year 1 is 130th. BK's year 2 with vastly more resources is 109th. Guess that settles that..... I mean, if I were a fan of Colorado, who as I mentioned, has 3 winning seasons in 20 years, the level of expectation would fit reality. Please tell me your critical thinkings skill are higher than this and you are just trolling?

your reading skills are horrible. I've said it's Kelly's job to fix this. I even in another thread somewhere said South Terrebonne High School has a better D than we do. no, we need to make changes. difference between me and you is that you're already convinced Kelly needs to be fired. I know and understand that this Defense isn't getting fixed mid-season. so I have to wait and see what (if any changes) are made.
this isn't the NFL where you can just go out with your "resources" and buy as many players as needed to fill holes. Brian Kelly took over a roster with ONE starter quality DB. Jay Ward, and nobody else. with the portal, he was able to get enough to field a competent team last year. most of them with expiring eligibility. there wasn't a dozen guys available for us to not only fill starter slots, but also add depth. you can't sign who isn't there. again, going into this season, he had ONE returning starter quality guy in the secondary. and that guy is now out with a medical issue that nobody could predict was coming. so again we go to the portal and get WHAT IS AVAILABLE. this year it happened to be guys that couldn't hack it. There were no Derek Stingley's to be had. no matter how much money you have to spend.
So why did the D get worse with more time recruiting? Because you guys seem to keep repeating not having guys which was only ever valid year 1. Because there is no justification or explanation other than poor coaching for how bad our D was.
say it with me now. we had 39 scholarship players left on the entire roster at the end of the 2021 season. that is fewer than half the amount we are allowed to have. it was known before we even made a hire that it would take multiple recruiting cycles to just to completely fill the roster. As in get us to the full 85. Let alone stock piling it with the amount of talent that LSU would typically have.
