I watched the first half of the game and it had some good moments but overall the glaring thing I saw was JJs passing. As well as the the OL and DL not playing well. I went to a friends to watch the UFC ppv so I didnt get to watch the second half until last night. The opening drive of the second half was GREAT. JJ was set when he threw, everything fell into place. Then it was right back to the funk. I still feel the constant checks are a problem, I dont see any team check nearly as much as LSU.
YEA, look at UF's blow outs vs 0-3 and 1-2 teams then Tenn smacks them back to reality.... BLOW OUTS ARE COOL VS HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS...
I saw a team practicing against an overmatched ULL. We're having a problem throwing downfield...so the coaches were calling it OVER and OVER again trying to allow JJ the chance to develop that ability in a live game. Same thing with running up the gut. The O-Line has had issues with opening holes in the interior of the line, so the coaches were pounding it home trying to get the line to gel before SEC play. It was a TRUE tune-up game. I have no doubt they could have "dropped fitty on 'em" if the coaches had only called what they KNOW the team is good at. The bottom line is we wasted downs throughout that game trying to force something we KNOW we are struggling with. This won't be the case when UGA and UF come around.
LOL. Hey thats what DVRs are for! LSU and college football in general will always be my favorite sport.
Teams dont have 100% of the plays installed and choose to run 40%. They practice on the packages installed each week and should run an extremely high percentage of the formations during the game. Obviously there is a lot more to see but a lot of plays are still relatively inefficient.
That is not an identity. Those are facts. They were 4-0 last year so what, was that their identity? I think not. You can lose and still have an identity.
The inefficient to a big part due to personnel substitutions and formation screaming what the play call is going to be. There is absolutely no surprise at all to the opposing defense.
LSU's identity? A young team with new faces in crucial spots. A team that wants to pound the middle, but still working on getting the OL to gel. A team with talent at the offensive skill positions and a young QB who is learning how to be an experienced QB. A strong defensive unit learning their 3rd system in 3 years. A team with 2 BCS Championships this decade. A team with a lot of clueless fans.
