lol.... anyway, wish us farmboys luck tonight! Georgia Tech is a 4 point favorite. What else is new... we've been underdogs in half our games this year. With GT's triple option and Iowa's blue collar, vanilla defense, this is your grandfather's game to watch... wear your throwback undies!! Iowa wins..... if Stanzi doesn't add to his 14 picks this year, especially those first possession pick6's he likes to throw. Fun to watch.... finally getting our offensive line together intact for the first time since the Arizona game. Bulaga, Calloway, Doering and Dace Richardson will all get their shot at playing on Sundays next year, though the last two are oft-injured. GT wins.... if they can control the ball as they have against most everybody they've played (1st in the nation in time of possession.) Our D can be worn down.... and, although Iowa ranks in the top ten in most defensive categories, we are 30th in rushing D. My prediction: As always, kind of a Hawkeye tradition this year, we will find ways to keep GT in the game. If we jump out early, we get a case of the guilts and throw them a pick. However, Norm Parker will come up with a defensive scheme that will allow us to make the plays at the right time. GT only allows opposition 25 minutes on offense, but in that 25 minutes, the opposition averages 25 points... a point a minute. I expect time of possession to be fairly equal in this game and I think the Hawkeyes can force them to punt three times. Iowa 31, GT 21
Gotta take GaTech on this one. I'm only 70 miles out of Atlanta. No defense but they somehow get away with it. (see VaTech melt down). You have cool fans who actually go to the Bowl games. I like your uniforms, that's it. GaTech - 30-28, but a lot closer than the score would indicate.:thumb:
I lived 30 minutes from IC during high school, played against several guys who went to Iowa and then on to the NFL (tim dwight, tavian banks). Saw them win the Big 10 and go to the Rose Bowl 90 or 91? While Iowa has a good team, I don't see them holding down GT. Although I was wrong in the Oregon and Stanford games so, what the hell do I know.
Well, Stanzi threw his pick6 to make them think they had a chance. Nice job, Norm Parker, you had the D ready to go. Next year could be special!!
That Meger (sic?) kid. Is he a pilot or is his dad? I remember they flew down to Auburn to check it out, can't recall if they had their own plane. Caused a bit of stir and seemed to be a great person.
Wegher is from NW Iowa and Cheezedick recruited him hard at Iowa State... then at Auburn. I hadn't heard the "plane story", but I'll see what I can find.
