Bhelm, I read everyday but am not a poster but I have a question for the experts such as yourself. How do you think the actions of Les and company in the Tenn game and this season (lack of any offense ) will affect the committed ones and the guys left on our board. Thanks for all the great info you and others bring to this forum.:tigereye:
Always more discouraging to the fans than it is for recruits 99% of the time. All the committed guys had a blast this weekend and all the other weekends and are actively recruiting the uncommitted guys to join them. It might be slightly more discouraging to out-of-state guys who have coaches closer to them in their ear but you can see guys like Ray Drew had the time had an incredible visit. Where one of two guys feel worried about the offense there are 10 others out there that see an opportunity at early playing time and a chance to help the team. With this class we are seeing the committed guys still 100% committed and a few of them making plans to enroll early in December. They are a big family and all putting efforts on the recruiting trail trying to add to that family or what they like to call it "The Fam".
Whew, that's good news. Also, makes me want Les to get the issues fixed. I think having to get a new coach will set us back recruiting and installing new schemes.
I agree with this for the most part. But I also think it definitely sticks in the back of the mind of major recruits already committed. It definitely hurts with OOS more than instate recruits too, I agree with that. I believe LSU has missed out on some recruits the past few years because of offense. If you look back at who LSU has lost past few years, it was projected offensive side recruits. They often came out saying our production had nothing to do with it...but you can't believe everything you read.
Not arguing, but who are you talking about in particular? The only one I can think of that this would actually apply is Seastrunk. Mike Davis...was Texas all the way if he got a committable offer. McKnight...Was never coming to LSU...and Reggie told him how much he made while at USC. Who else?
I'm not saying it was the major factor but it definitely contributed in some decisions. Reed Seastrunk Bell Davis Hunter Just to name a few. I know those guys came out and said different factors made them choose but I find it hard to believe our offensive stumbling had nothing to with contributing to their decisions... If LSU ended up rolling on offense, at the very least it would make them think hard about their decisions. Hunter and Davis were huge losses and are already making big impacts as Freshman. LSU has had a harder time even selling some instate guys. Fobbs was pretty hard to turn last year, even after they stayed on him all year and promised WR. Wright had some doubts that was rectified later in the process. They have a Reville article out now where Landry said it is even in the back of his mind...you can't consistently have a bad offense every year and not expect it to eventually impact recruiting.
Do you think that you could sell the negative publicity as a positive? Kind of like the hollywood mentality, all publicity is good publicity.
Define "every". People act as if LSU is know for having a ****ty offense year in and year out. We just started year two.
