Here are his stats through 4 games:

    62 of 101 for 61.4% and 708 yards with 7 TD's and 1 INT for a rating of 141.16!

Considering the poor play from the offensive line and lack of a running game, i'd say this young 19 year old is performing quite well!

So to everyone bashing this kid...WTH more do you expect from him?!!!...Give him a break!!!...He should only get better over time!:geaux:

I'm reading the front-page college football stories, this is what they said about Southern Cal...

Matt Barkley’s bruised right shoulder performed just about as well as Southern California’s entire offense. It was far from perfect
Barkley's long TD throws lead No. 12 USC past WSU - College Football - Rivals.com

He was 13 of 22 (59.1%) yesterday vs. the Wash State Cougars.

For the season, he is 43 of 72 (59.7%), 3 TDs, 1 INT.

As for Miami's Jacory "The Heisman" Harris, he is 50 of 84 (59.5%), 5 TDs, 3 INT this season.

    How bout this for perspective:

Colt McCoy (23 year old Senior and probable Heisman front-runner):

    103 of 145 for 71.0 % and 1,145 yards with 9 TD's and 5 INT's!

Keep in mind McCoy put up these #'s against ULM, Wyoming, Texas Tech and UTEP...all POWERHOUSES in the college football scene! It should also be noted that TX top 2 RB's are averaging a combined 5.7 per carry!:geaux:

THere is always places for improvement, that said JJ has played pretty well IMO. He does need work on deep touch passes and to lead the receiver a lil more. Its all in his footwork. Overall Im pretty content with his progress. Its the OL that generally isnt giving him the time he needs. Plus the play calling. Against these weaker Ds is when we should have been trying to really get work on the deeper and intermediate passes. The screens and slants are easier.

JJ showed the ability to throw the long pass this weekend, Lafell and Toliver are beats and RR is showing he'll be a monster as well.. so JJ should be able to do it some more against UGA's suspect defense. I think we'll win a close one in Athens.

I agree with you 100%! JJ needs to improve his footwork and delivery. Over time, I suspect he will make the necessary adjustments to his mechanics. However, the current o-line's inability to run block/pass block/get out of their own way, non-existent running game and ultra-predictable play calling have made such improvements a monumental task for this young man! I pray that the o-line get's it together and the play calling improves from here on out.

FWIW, I just think JJ should be commended for the tremendous poise he's shown despite all that is working against him. :geaux:

I like JJ. I believe he'll be very good when he gets more experience. I'm hoping we can reap those benefits this year, rather than only next season and beyond.

But I thought he'd have a run game to help him develop quicker. Apparently, that's not going to be the case.

    Here, here.

JJ is certainly not anywhere close to the problem with this offense. I would put him 3rd or 4th in the pecking order on issues concerning the offense.

JJ had a good game yesterday. I like the fact that he doesn't seem to get rattled, and he doesn't turn the ball over.

    And JJ is a winner!!!

The young fella has started 6 games for us dating back to last year:

L @ Arky- he put up 31 points, NO TURNOVERS. The D failed us.
W vs GaTech - Peach Bowl, we routed them. He had NO TURNOVERS.
W @ Washington - JJ had NO TURNOVERS.
W vs Vandy- JJ had NO TURNOVERS.
W vs ULL - JJ threw 1 INT.
W @ Miss St - JJ HAD NO TURNOVERS.

Sure, I'd love to see JJ throw for 250-300 yards and 3 TD's a game, But I'll take 160-175 yards, NO TURNOVERS, and a WIN.

And considering there's only 3-4 issues.. that's pretty darn good. Jefferson is a hell of a QB and I'm excited that he's only a sophomore.
