You know the more I have thought about it the more I agree with this line of thinking. All we have been saying for years is if we just had some offense, well we got 298 passing and 140 something rushing, with Hill going for a century and the Defense let us down. Say what you want but a million times any one of us would have taken it if before this game we would have been told 17 - 14 LSU, 2 minutes left Alabama has the ball with no timeouts and has 78 yards to go.

Can't agree. Momentum is like driving in your car; if you want to go faster, you have to step on the gas, not press cruise control. Granted, cruise is not as risky.

I agree the TD was a breakdown by the D, no one was in position to make a play. But it was also the perfect play call. That said, I blame the scheme more than anything. LSU was dominating the Bama O up until that point. The prevent was way too soft. LSU gave them the sidelines and a huge cushion for a first down. I could have completed those throws. If LSU plays the same D we had been playing I seriously doubt Bama wins that game. If they do at least we can say we went out on our shields. I blame the scheme for giving them all that field to work with to advance the ball.

I don't deny the defense's mistakes. My point was that the majority of the time over the past few seasons the defense was banked on to hold things together while the offense sputtered. It even seemed the Miles honestly believed that the defense would win the game for him no matter how long they were stuck on the field.

The defense did well the majority of the game. However, every once in a while they are going to make a mistake. Contrary to what alot of people think, you can't continue to win just banking on one aspect of a team.

The Defense also allowed Eddie Lacey and TJ Yeldon to gash them the entire 1st half. Why Saban didn't keep pounding the rock I will never know. We got beat because we couldn't stop their tailbacks running the ball and catching out of the backfield. Now I don't know if this is due to our D line just being too aggressive, and over pursuing, our linebackers not tackling, or a combination of both along with the fact that our defense for some reason plays to protect the back end but concede little dink and dunks. When you do that you MUST TACKLE IMMEDIATELY.... We didn't and they scored 3 touchdowns on us driving a pretty long way each time they scored. That's not LSU football. And our offense has been told all year, just don't turn the ball over and sustain drives, and score a few TD's in the red zone. Well they did that, and the Defense didn't have the offenses back this time.

An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force, even if it's named les miles.

Agreed. But you can conservatively go for it on 3rd and 10 without running up the middle.

The good news is, that was a really great team we pretty much tied with the other night. If we play that way from here out, we should dominate the next 4 games and carry over some of that confidence and intensity into next year. When you think about what we're losing (or not losing, I should say) this off-season, We might actually have a team for the ages next year.

I agree. I would've, personally, like to have seen us at least try to pass for the 3rd down. It would've iced the game.
