Ok, depending on your affinity, I suppose this is the start to the second college football season... signing day recruiting or spring football.

But for sports fans that actually follow actual competition with other schools, it's the start of SEC basketball. Here's a primer to get the discussion going...

It may be considered another "down" year for SEC, as Florida is still showing some growing pains with a young team, Tennessee hasn't been dominant, and Kentucky as well is slowly rebuilding with Billy G at the helm. The SEC West is as unpredictable as ever, but with Arkansas taking an early claim on most surprising team in the West. Flip a coin between the rest of the SEC west, with the possible exception of Auburn (which will continue to struggle). Trent as the new coach in the bunch will definitely be an interesting storyline in the SEC west. How does his brand of ball change results with essentially the same personnel from last year's team?

    Starts tomorrow against Bama...
:geauxtige LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A PART OF THE TRENT JOHNSON ERA.

    I'm here...or I'm there. I've made 7 games this season so far.

Wish I could be there. Too many baseball lovers on here. ;)

I should be out tailgating for the game tomorrow if anyone is there.

This is perhaps the first thread title that truly made me sad.

For one thing we have relatively healthy starters, Spencer's shoulder and Thornton's toe notwithstanding. Johnson seems to like tenacious man-to-man, but we need a strong big man very badly, as Utah made painfully clear. As soon as a big center posts up against a beanstalk like Chris Johnson we're in trouble. The one time LSU goes to a zone to compensate it was not very successful. It's an undermanned team, but those guys are playing very hard this season, and that will always command my respect.

After day one... all the talk of Arkansas must have gotten to their heads. They lose by 12 to Mississippi State. Ah well, the topsy turvy SEC West. There's hope for the Tigers yet...

    Beat 'Bama! :geaux:
