I had heard a lot of good things about Taylor & wasn't worried about him. But Coleman was a huge suprise to me. I kept asking people around me who that guy was during the NC game.

Freshmen overtaking older guys has been rare under Miles (Toliver is the only real example I can think of).

Jai Eugene & Chris Hawkins will both be Jr's, but we've seen them play & I don't think anyone has been real impressed yet. It's not like we're selling them short because we've forgotten how highly they were recruited and just haven't seen them. The other guys (Phelon Jones being the main one, IMO) are going to be RS Freshmen, so no big thing for a true freshman to pass a RS.

I was real high on Phelon Jones as a recruit, but I've heard the coaches think he has a long way to go as far as technique.

Indeed. Steltz didn't start until he was a senior and and Dorsey didn't until he was a junior but it was All-American all the way after that. Before that we didn't really know what to expect. It's hard for some players to excel in spot play.

Wouldnt anyone want to be in Miles position, thats a good problem to have.
So much talent and only 22 positions to play these guys in. Plus special teams. I am really concerned about our secondary all of a sudden. I should be more concerned about LBs.

But I have heard that Hawkins has what it takes, with alot of these guys its just confidence. Because talent isnt the question.

I'm not really concerned about our starters at LB. Most of the time we only have 2 on the field, and we know one of them is going to be awesome. If the other one is just decent (and they will probably be better than that), it won't hurt the team much as it is relatively easy to mask one weak LB. Depth is a big concern though.

I am wayyy more concerned about our secondary, as every LSU fan should be as this is by far the biggest question mark going into the season.

I agree with you, but for the sake of injury and we both know we have had alot of that. At LB, who fills in I know Riley and Cutertra will probably be the guys. But thats a bit of concern.

But the secondary is a big question, well corner is.

    Dandydon has reported the following:

    1) John Williams as RB
    2) Stephon Francois as both LB and S
    3) Shemari Clemons as LB
    4) RJ Franois to DT now that Pittman is coming back
    5) Al Wood or Will Blackwell to OT (although DD doesn't think it will happen)

Williams to RB is the biggest eye opener. I wonder if this is because of the lack of recruits at RB the past 2 years (only 1 taken - Ridley).

RJF to DT makes sense as we have an imbalance in backups at the DT vs the DE positions.

Blackwell to OT might make sense. Al Wood would not.

Clemons we kept hearing about at LB. He is supposedly up to 230. That would be awesome. We need as many bodies out there at LB pushing the competition to put the best set of OLBs possible on the field.

Re: Position changes for LSU Football 2008

I love the way LSU uses their running backs, but if I were a running back I probably wouldn't choose LSU either because of that fact. I think I would choose another school that used maybe a two running back system. I think Knight will be much more pleased at USC, and it is already evident how they are high on him. I love LSU and hope we can get only the best here.

Justin Vincent looked heisman for half a season.... I would be much more comfortable having Jones starting at SS.

I don't see your point. Why would you be more comfortable with Jones out of his natural position?
