As much as I like Chad Jones, Coleman was a beast in the NC. I'd still prefer Jones to start because now he'll actually have a full year of training and some experience, but Coleman deserves playing time too... he's too good to not play
Partially. But more because Jones is a FS, and while he could play SS, I don't see any reason to with as good as Coleman looked in the NC game.
Not to mention the fact that the coaches thought that Coleman was better prepared to play SS when Steltz got hurt than Jones. That in itself, should be a strong indicator on who had the advantage at that particular time. Maybe Jones will pass Coleman this spring, but as of right now, Coleman should be the starter. Parso, who's gonna be the other starting DE. I thought that the starting D-line would be Jean-Francois, Favorite, Alexander, and Pittman.
The issues being discussed in this thread is one of the main reasons I want to be at the spring game this year (with a roster and a pair of binocs !). Earlier in the season one of the other reasons was to see RP make his debut in a sense but he's already done that and shown that he can play at a high level. Since none of the freshman or redshirt freshman really have a position, tough to say any of them are changing positions. If John Williams is being "moved" to the slot, this may signal a move by Miles to put the best players on the field. Given the talent at CB and RB, the move to the slot may give him the best opportunity to see the field. To answer the question posed above Domanick Williams and John Williams are cousins ( http://www.lsusports.net/ViewArticl...64&DB_OEM_ID=5200&ATCLID=785356&Q_SEASON=2007 ) .
can you give me your projected secondary for next season all situations 4-3 Nickel Dime for CB, FS, NB, SS and 4th CB in the Dime
True, but you have to consider that Jones was not taking any practice reps at SS because there wasn't a vacancy there. He may get the chance to try SS in the Spring. RJF & Alexander at DT, Pittman & Tyson Jackson at DE.
By the time SEC play comes around, here's what I expect. FS: Taylor SS: Coleman CB: Jai Eugene CB: Patrick Johnson Nickel: Chad Jones Dime: Danny McCray I have Eugene & Johnson starting at CB, but I really don't know here. That's too tough to call - especially before Spring practice when I haven't seen any of the guys that redshirted this past year. I have also switched Chad Jones & McCray from how they were this past season, putting Jones at Nickel back as I think he is a better athlete and could match up against a receiver a lot better without losing McCray's physicalness.
We really have no idea what Chris Hawkins can do either. Just because some of these guys haven't seen the field much doesn't mean they can't play--as evidenced by Coleman in the championship game and Curtis Taylor stepping in and playing well in Laron's shadow. Miles really seems to put a premium on seniority and I think it would be surprising if Patrick Johson were able to jump some of these older guys on the depth chart. I realize he is an amazing talent and a hard worker, but I still think there's always a tendancy to sell the older players short.
