I would rather that then Arky that way if the away game is in Texas I can visit my sis and brother-in-law for the holidays and then go to the game. I would still like to play the Gators though.
Florida and LSU were matched up because when the arrangement was originally made LSU was meant to be Florida's cupcake.
I would hate to see it go, personally. You should never shy away from the competition, but instead fight for the oppoertunity to prove yourself against the best. A loss to UF isn't necessarily a deal breaker for killing LSU's chances at a MNC anyway. The first BCS title was won with a loss to UF on the schedule.
case in point, 07. that was one helluva game in ts. also, very hyped, lots of national exposure, and a great win for sos. can anyone seriously say we would have had that kind of tv exposure, or been in the ncg, had that game been against vandy?
True, but staying with the hypothetical, in '06 we went 9-2 and blistered ND in the Sugar Bowl. It was generally acknowledged that LSU was the best team in the country at the end of that season, but the 2 losses kept them out of the NC. One of those losses was at Florida. Might we have made the BCSNC had we played Vanderbilt instead? The "cross-division rivalry" deal created an unfair competitive imbalance in the conference. There's no way to make it fair on a yearly basis, but a schedule with no permanent cross division opponents will be fair over the balance of several years.
I like the Florida game. Hope it stays. I like playing the best programs in the conference and the country. I don't see the approach as a risk but an opportunity. I'd rather drop all the cupcake games.
I like the Florida game; however, I can easily see that it's a thorn in our sides more often than not. The "permanent opponent" idea has never been fair; let's rotate all of our East opponents in the future.
I wish they would have moved bama and auburn to the eat and mizzou in the west along with atm. Than just play a rotating schedule. Having Mizzou in the east is silly.
No, that arrangement would have most of the traditional SEC in the east, while LSU ends up playing three former SWC/big-8 schools plus state and ole miss. I don't like it.
