Cant complain about his confidence but do you actually believe that?

We wont know about his recruits making it to the NFL for another couple years but I doubt there is a single team including USC that has 50-80% of their recruits make the NFL. That would be at least 12+ players per year. I'm assuming he means get at least a free agent contract. Even if thats all he means it seems pretty far fetched.

I don't think he means get drafted, but just get a shot. I think 50% sounds reasonable, but above that just seems a bit optimistic. Hell, 20% of the recruits don't make it 3 or 4 years due to injury/transfer whatever.

While I do agree that stars don't always translate to production on the field, it is no coincidence that Miami and FSU dominated in the 80's and 90's, and USC and LSU are dominant programs right now. They all had top recruiting classes, littered with four and five star players, year in year out.

Let me also say this, of course the team will be made up of mostly 3 star, there aren't enough 4 and 5 stars to go around. Having said that, a lot of our playmakers and difference makers were indeed 4 and 5 star players.

    Per rivals:
    Early Doucet- 5 star
    Keiland Williams- 5 star
    Ryan Perrilloux - 5 star
    Terrance Toliver- 5 star
    Matt Flynn- 4 star
    Luke Sanders- 4 star
    Glenn Dorsey- 4 star
    Charles Scott- 4 star
    Marlon Favorite- 4 star
    Demetrius Byrd- 4 star

Seriously doubt that the coaching staff goes and checks Scout and Rivals star rankings of a player before offering them a scholorship. But maybe they should. They should say "dam this guy is fast, and hits hard, shined at our camp, looks like a great football player , but rivals only has him as 3 star, we must be wrong about him. oh well, guess we better look elsewhere or wait and see if his rating goes up." That's what they should be doing. wonder why they dont do that instead of offering all these 3 star guys? Obviously scout and rivals know better than the coachs who would make good football players for LSU. Oh yea and suddenly this year Louisiana just doesn't have many top high school football player seniors. Suddenly Louisiana high school football is crap, right?

Miami & FSU have continued to have top ranked classes. How well is that working out?

Yes, it is possible that the state of Louisiana can have a down year. Imagine that...

Every team will eventually fall off at some point. Nobody stays on top forever, but how can one deny the link between solid recruiting and success on the field. Doesn't always, but it sure increases your chances.

not only is it a down year in Louisiana, but also throughout our traditional recruiting zones, with the exception of Alabama, imagine that. An affliction that affected most of the southeast in the years of 1988 and 1989 causing babies born that year to grow to be smaller weaker and less athletic. Scientists have proven this and Rivals and Scout have confirmed it.

What really happened is that after 3 apparantly successfull recruiting classes, three years of getting to know the recruiting terrain of Louisiana and the south in general, building ties with area high school coaches, that Coach Miles got together with his staff and decided to fill the class early with recruits for the scout squad. Inside sources say that's why he went out and signed 16 players, even before there senior year in high school. Even with LSU's season where all signs point to them contending for a national championship he didn't want to lose out on the opportunity sign good depth for the scout squad. He was quoted as saying "we're not going to sign any impact players this year, we have enough of those already".
