hmmm, well i'm one of the bigger jefferson apologists out there but i have to say that jarrett lee has at least one thing that jefferson doesn't have: confidence. and that's a pretty big "thing" to possess. he's much more of a leader than JJ will EVER be, and i think that he should start and get the majority of the snaps saturday. i'd put JJ in for designed run plays and to keep the opponent guessing, but i want to see 80/20 percent lee/jefferson saturday. general lee earned that much.
I'm sorry but catching an underthrown fade route which hits you in the numbers does not constitute a good defensive play, at least by me. Lee played better than Jefferson, but still made a few terrible decisions. I fear his old self will rear its ugly head soon enough, given more opportunity. Especially going into a tough venue. Not saying it will happen, just saying I'm scared that it will.
Saturday night in the swamp? Questionable qb? I'm not counting this one just yet... Were not bama I dont expect us to just manhandle these guys a win is possible it might be a toss up given our current situation
I have never, in my entire life seen a college player get worse with more experience, and that pretty much sums up Jordan Jefferson. He had 4 areas that he was really good in and those were, that he didn't turn the ball over, he had a very good completion percentage, he was money in the red zone, and he could run. Well, he sucks in the red zone this year, his completion percentage is horrible, he turns the ball over, and he can run every now and then. Sorry but using the excuse that the receivers drop balls and it hurts his confidence is just that, an excuse. LSU receivers have been dropping balls for years now, Dwayne Bowe had issues, Xavier Carter couldn't catch, Bennie Brazell didn't learn how to catch until his senior season, Jared Mitchell, Demetrius Byrd his senior season had issues, Brandon LaFell was labeled butterfingers early in his career. Now it's Tolliver and Shepard. It happens. A quarterback has to have short memory, and he doesn't. He is fragile. What I would do with Jordan is sit him down and tell him that we are going to need him again. This doesn't mean that he wont play anymore. He needs to work out whatever is going on, and be ready for when his number is called again. We are the LSU Tigers, not the LSU Jordan Jefferson's, so he needs to do what is best for the team, and work hard and support Jarrett Lee.
Let's put this in perspective. We asked the BACKUP QB to come off the bench and lead us to victory. Even though he only threw the ball 40 times IN TOTAL last year, we asked him to throw it 23 times Saturday. Did he make bad choices? Absolutely. But he was able to drive LSU down the field, complete big passes, and lead us on a scoring drive all without having seen significant playing time in almost 2 years. Lee performed better than Kolb did coming off the bench and Kolb is a PRO and was the starter going into the season.
I'm glad he didn't transfer. I gained alot of respect for Jarrett Lee over the last couple of weeks. I'm not ready to crown him the savior of LSU football, but I will say that the kid was treated horribly and has a big pair of stones for putting up with what he has, and coming back from it unafraid.
Jj IS the one player holding this team back. If t bob doesn't snap the ball he let's time run out. He blew it last year at ole miss. He is a deer in the spotlights at qb. If I never see Jj take a snap again it will still be one snap too many. Jl and a pro style offense with a penality free game= sec championship
I said one player. Crowton sucks with his play calling and miles is a fool for drinking the crowton kool aid. There is a lot of fault to go around. In saying it's too early to give up on jj is crazy. The team has given up on him and so have I. We will win Saturday with great d and a functional offense with great running and a break out game by jl
