I've seen a lot of fans automatically claiming a loss to Florida, but I need to ask....why? If you've watched UF play this year, they really aren't very good. Their secondary got shredded by a managerial QB last night. Their definsive line got gashed by Ingram. And their offense only scored 6 points against Bama, who incidentally doesn't have the SEC's best defense. That honor would be ours... I'm just saying...Florida has been a fraud all season. They were exposed last night and even if we continue to play like we've been playing, we should be able to win a close one. If Lee starts and generates a passing game to balance out Ridley's mad rushes, we should be able to put a 'Bama-esque beatdown on them. I'm just saying...Florida isn't the threat everybody seems to think they are this year.
I'm saying J. Lee starts, plays entire game and we leave the Swamp with a "W". I wonder if, after the meeting today, the team will be bringing the full traveling roster of coaches.
I agree with this, but for some reason i can't shake this feeling that I am getting that is telling me that somehow someway, Lee won't start next week. And Miles logic behind it is that if he would have started Lee against Tennessee, Jefferson wouldn't have had his 80 yard TD run. For some reason I just keep thinking he is going to use every excuse he can think of to no let Lee start.
It would take us putting a complete game together for that to happen, and that has not yet taken place this year. Even if we DO have our passing & running game going, we still cannot turn the ball over or commit senseless, ill-timed penalties. The difference between LSU & bama right now is that bama does not make mistakes. If we can tighten up that aspect of our game and maintain even a reasonable passing threat, then we can be very, very good. However, the swamp is generally not the place where team-wide epiphanies materialize, but I would love to see it. My guess is that the offense continues to improve, but the game will be much closer than it should be because of our propensity for mistakes. Of course, this is only if Lee starts.
the only reason i think we lose the florida game is because Lee is just getting his feet back under him and it's a hostile environment. He will play ok but will throw an ill-timed interception and we will lose. I think we'll be ok the rest of the season though.
If that proves to be true, he only thinks he's heard booing. Not disagreeing cause honestly I hadn't noticed that but could have to do with not playing in any meaningful time in over a year. Overall he showed SO much poise in the pocket and keep in mind he doesn't need to be perfect, just a pass here and there would be an improvement- as he did last night. At least they'd have to respect our receivers which will open up our run game more. Hopefully we have more running plays than off-tackle. There was continually a gaping hole but dayum the only RS run I remember was up the middle when he should be to the edge.
They aren't good compared to the last three Florida teams, but they are still the second-best team in the SEC . . . and very dangerous in their own stadium.
I think we can beat Florida. They have been prone to mistakes this year. Not as productive on offense. Our defense will match up very well with them. All we need is Lee to get his chance, keep his head screwed on right and make the most of it. And somebody with a watch to follow Miles around. I think 60-40 odds we could take it. And if we do, it gives the team the boost in confidence they need to finish strong. If they lose, I'm going to start worrying about a McNeese upset.
They only scored 6 points on Bama and we have a better defense. I'll give them an additional 3 points for home-field on us, but I believe we can at the very least make it a close game and have a chance to win. My only point of this thread is that there is absolutely no reason to automatically concede a loss. And yes, IF we happen to put it all together, we can absolutely wreck them. I suppose the same could be said the other way around, too.
