IMHO, it is senseless to disparage the UF program over a personal perception of these injuries. As someone who experienced an ACL/MCL injury while playing a collegiate sport, I sympathize with these young men who have potentially given up their future quality of life in an effort to entertain the masses and further their own objectives. But, that's football. Most of these injuries are a common occurence with most CFB programs, although not to the frequency that UF has incurred to date. I seriously doubt this is related to Strength & Conditioning. It's much more likely, IMO, that Meyer's insistence that the Gators needed to "toughen up" prior to this season because their lines got pushed around by the tougher teams on their '07 schedule. Even UF's spring practice reports were touting the increased "physical contact" over previous Meyer camps. Remember, several of these injuries occurred to individuals that were already wearing orthopaedic braces, so it's somewhat relative. As in my case, I knew my knee "wasn't right" long before the catastrophic breakdown occurred, but it didn't matter because I desperately wanted to compete. just my dos centavos ...... Auburn's new method of signalling-in plays from the sideline:
Tebow is currently flashing all over the cosmos battling evil and injustice, saving the universe day by day. It will not be long before Tebow returns to Florida and lays his hands on all their torn ACLs, miraculously healing each one of them.
He did effectively keep Patrick (Johnson) Peterson from entering LSU in the spring...karma is a b*^$h.
