I flew Philly-Houston-Baton Rouge. As for the rental car.....they ran out of what I reserved, so they gave me a big white Crown Victoria. I was stylin. Well, not really.
OMG! I thought i was bootlegging alcohol into the state! Till I ran out of whiskey and went to wal mart to refill. I love Louisiana. It's a dream come true for us borederline alkys. Geaux Tigers!
I flew in on Thanksgiving night, wondering how I could buy alcohol for Friday morning's tailgate. Obviously I was worrying about nothing. 7am...game day....I hit the Mobil station for a case of beer and a bottle of Beam. La is a wonderful place.
you can't beat the culture and food. My dad was on dredge boats around morgan city. We loved staying down there and running trotlines in the bayous and crabbing around the gulf. Use to take the boat out and get oysters. eat them right in the boat.
I'm sure locals consider the Acme Oyster house to be a tourist place, but I thought it was great. Where do Baton Rouge locals go for fresh oysters?
Awesome stuff guys, greatly appreciated. Any recommendations when would be the best to get tickets? Would it be better to try and scalp them on gameday, or just buy them sometime this week or next? I just saw the schedule and noticed that it's a night game!!
Wherever you get tickets, i'd suggest turning down any upper deck ticket...unless it's a lower section. my first game was in the upper deck in the 2nd highest row and i was disappointed. Never again. There will be scalpers there. I'd try to get tickets before on stub hub or whatever. That way at least you know you have a ticket. yes, it's a night game and the atmosphere will be electric. I also park in the kirby smith parking lot. Always seems to be lots of parking. Go see Mike's cage and the band/team/golden girls/cheerleaders come down the hill by the pmac.
I get em at Tony's when they have them, but I wouldn't send a tourist there. It is in a very high crime area.
Really Parrains is just a more expensive version of the Chimes. Same food vendors and similar dishes. I don't believe the Chimes has grilled oysters though but I could be wrong.
