Well we are finally in game week and all the talk and hopes and fears will be replaced by FOOTBALL!! We know North Texas won't push us and it is a rent a win so what should we look for in the game? On offense will we show anything or just play vanilla and get the cobwebs out? How will the D look with TM out and will someone step up to be a difference maker? Which freshmen will play and how much will they contribute? Special teams seem pretty strong but who will be the return men on KOs and punts? Finally willl this game show anything or do we have to wait till Washington?
Wow a football related thread! The things I would like to see in this game are consistency and fundamentally sound football. We should be able to win easily on talent alone so the final score is not that significant to me. (As long as we come in first ) On offense I really want to see sustained drives, solid oline play, and mistake free football. Big plays are fun to watch but against NT really are not a good gauge of our offense. What I don't want to see are miscues, turnovers and 3 and outs followed by 80 yard TDs and defensive and special teams scores. That will give us a nice score but hardly show that the team is ready for SEC play. On Defense I'd like to see constant pressure on the QB with out blitzing. We should be able to handle their dline with our front four consistently. I'd also expect the D to not give up any big plays. LB play will be an area to watch.
Simple: I'd like to see LSU beat North Texas like we are supposed to beat them....no struggling to move the ball through the air. I'd like to see Mett throw the ball around and then let Rivers gain some valuable experience (throwing the ball, not handing it off).
Depends on field condition. BUt I think we wont see much on offense except a very vanilla offense. There is NO reason to give our SEC guys film just yet. So I would suspect a slow methodical beat down but one we will all find rather pedestrian. And I am good with that. I predict a 35-7 type game. Where at half many of the knee jerk types are posting "HERE WE GO AGAIN FIRE LES MILES" garbage because Mett isnt throwing it every down....
I hate to tell you but that is not going to happen. I bet the run to pass ratio is going to be 70-30 at best..... If that high. I would expect a ton of between the tackles type plays.... One thing I promise you wont see "THE OPTION !!!!" which I say good riddance.
I think we'll throw it around a little in the first quarter and try to jump out to a quick lead and then pound them the rest of the game. I do agree that Rivers should be given the chance to throw it around a little too.
I want the Tigers to come out and put away North Texas in the first quarter. I want to see backups in the second quarter and reserves in the second half. I want to see all four quarterbacks and all 52 running backs. Reduce injuries for the starters and get some PT for the talented youngsters.
No, no, no. We do nothing elaborate or out ofmthe ordinary. We save that for our "special" opponents. We run, run, run, and eveyr once in a while we throw a deep ball
