Red Zone defense was good, Washington had to try for field goals 4 times despite piling up all that offense. I'd give them an overall C-. Absolute failure to establish a pass rush against what should have been a weaker offensive line was the worst part. Locker was never pressured. I saw no stunts on the DL just a push into a collapsing pocket that never broke down. Yes he is. Locher is going to be an NFL quarterback, maybe a very good one.
Sure wasn't pretty, but it was a win & we better take it because from the look of things on defense its gonna be another long year. I just don't understand it... one thing is for sure... LSU is not getting its money's worth with this coaching staff!! Maybe we just played under wraps & gave up nearly 500 yards just to fool Fla, Ala, and Ole Ms??
I agree he's good and Sarkesian is likely to turn him into a good NFL QB. What I was trying to get across is he's not good enough to embarrass a GOOD Tiger defense like he did. The inference being this defense has a long way to go before Georgia.
Lets not forget Harry Coleman was almost as impressive as Peterson-not in coverage but on bringing pressure. Still not sure why they kept throwing at patrick patterson all night. Chad Jones is pretty terrible like I warned. We can stop with the Chad Jones is a beast comments. overrated and was always the last person to show up almost never involved in a tackle. his brother was about as effective. keiland is reggie bush without the moves and cant run b/t the tackles. ie, the dude thats overrated on offense. kootera had a good game. jordan jefferson was disappointing--looked panicked from the start even when he had time. although the o-line didnt do him many favors. o-line was horrendous. couldnt run block to open the smallest hole most of the time. but we did have two guys starting their first game. and a bunch of young guys all around. defense had no containment on the outside even with a running qb. i have no idea the gameplan here. les miles' timeout before the half on 3rd and 1 UNACCEPTABLE. if you called it when it happened, props to you. i knew it was a terrible call and bite us in the ass. you are playing conservatively anyhow. its not like youre going to try and score even if we get the ball back, cmon les. dont be a dufus. this is easy stuff. overall this team gets a c-. coaching gets a d. first game jitters on the road with a bunch of new dudes. ill let it slide since we got the double you. also, is pam ward in davie jones' jake locker? that was pretty gay. dude you have to handle your liquor better.
If they were BAD, we would have lost. The red-zone defense was good, at least. Washington went up and down the field but had bring out the FG kicker four times.
they were bad which is the same as your description of not good. dont be a pc wuss. coulda been worse but lets not split hairs. almost 500 yards total offense and we got quite a few breaks.
I didn’t expect to see much from the offense in this first game, but I was very disappointed in the defense. The defensive line did not look nearly as good as I expected. I hope and expect our Tigers to improve a lot before the Vandy. We need to get pressure on the QB and we need to shut down the interior line. I would be very disappointed if Washington being fired up surprised anyone on the team – players, coaches or us fans – first game of the new season, new coaching staff, healthy NFL quality QB, national game against a ranked team – I would expect them to be very fired up and they were. Just glad to get a road win against a PAC 10 team. We always talk about how weak that conference is overall, but I don’t remember many blowouts of PAC 10 teams by SEC lately. ldskule:
Tirk, I missed the play where we called timeout just before the half. Did we call timeout just as the offense was trying to snap the ball because we weren't comfortable with the alignment? Or did it appear we called it in an attempt to try and get the ball back? If that's the case, Les Miles is still really stupid when it comes to clock management.
