First, washington is way better than I expected. However the overall pussification of our defense is unacceptable. 1. We will lose every SEC game if we continue to have our linebackers 20 yards downfield in zone coverage, or have Cutrera and Riley chasing receivers in Man. This is just unexplainabale. 2. No pressure on the QB. Locker had no reason to even buckle his chin strap for 3 quarters. I will say in the 4th we got a little better. 3. Peterson will be a top five pick in the NFL draft. 4. JJ did pretty good. Especially when you consider he rarely got to set his feet and throw. When he did he was perfect. 3 drops and 3 throw aways due to piss poor oline play make his stats look not so great, but still not too bad. 11/19 172 yrds and 3 TD's. Ill take it. 5. Oline either has a scheme breakdown, or the tackles are extremely slow. It was a rare occasion that JJ did have a unblocked pass rusher in his face. 6. I think the coaching staff scripted the playcalling for this game as if we were playing ULL. They effed that up. Washington was ready for us, luckily we had a few balls bounce our way, and in the end superior athletes. I'm sure I'll think of more later. What you think? Crap. Forgot the grades. Offense B- Defense D Coaching F-
i give coaching an F as well!!!!!! chavis is a muhfuggin JOKE! that fat tub o' lard looked more confused than a half-retarded pumpkin doing calculus. UW's coaches were young, energetic, fired up and their team fed off of that. LSU's coaching needs to get a little more physical. the more i hope for change for LSU, i realize that EVERYTHING that LSU stands for football-wise is directly inverse to what is successful. OK, so that's a bit drastic... but seriously... sometimes i get more fed up watching LSU than any enjoyment i get out of it. i really hate to say that, but i'm starting to realize it's true. how long until baseball season?
They looked pretty tired. I was expecting better from defense, not sure if I'm sold on Chavis. Very below average performance by defense, although Peterson looked like a stud, definitely will end up being a top pick in the NFL draft in a few years. Was hoping to see Shepard and Randle involved more on offense, I don't think either played at all. You have to get top-10 recruits involved. I consider Randle to be on Julio Jones/AJ Green's level. Jefferson played pretty well though, I was happy with him. Running game was awful, Scott didn't do anything. I'm hoping it's just first game, far away road game jitters or something because playing like that just isn't going to cut it against Florida or Bama or Ole Miss.
- The two guys I had mentioned last week that needed to step up, did... Terrance Tolliver and Nevis. - TT was the game saver in my opinion. - Nevis was all over the field. - Peterson had some great tackles, did get a couple of passes completed on him but it was good throws. - Jefferson played solid. The rest of the team was pretty blahhhh.
Randle did play, Shep did not. Scott had 52 yards on 12 carries. It wasn't pretty but, he did his job. Can't blame hime for the coaching staff emailing Washington our 1 page playbook for the game. On a positive note, KW looked pretty good.
I can see the offense ironing out the kinks before the defense, although the pass protection might be a bit hard to correct overnight. Chavis has definitely carried the 3rd and Chavis over to LSU, and that's not gonna change anytime soon. He's here, he's carrying his old bag of trick with him, and this is the way it's gonna be until he leaves, I'm guessing. We were warned by Tennessee fans, and this is what we've got. I don't see it changing.
Its the damn zone. I'd rather have LB's on WR than this zone crap that gives up 3-13's all day. It is obvious our players have not a clue how to play zone. it is also clear that college QB's rib that crap to shreds... We did much better in man. The only reason UW scored in the second half was b/c our F'in coaching would leave the O on the field long enough.. I could play call that crap tonight for a 10th of the money miles gets...
I think Washington was better than any of us expected, including the coaching staff... The team just didn't look prepared on D, although they were better in the 2nd half. I don't know if it was realistic to expect us to blow out a team on the road. Offense was too conservative -- too many runs up the middle. I think Washington was fired up because CLM gave them some bulletin board material -- remember he referred to them as "juggernauts" some time back? :geauxtige
