Dandy Don says we offered 12-14 and he expects 3 to 4 more to give verbals this week. What do you think, this seems a little ambitious to me. Historically, how many verbals do we get from Junior day?
I think Don might be being a bit optimistic with his prediction of 3 or 4 more verbals this week... I bet a few kids will tell the coaches they want to be Tigers but are going to want to wait & take trips etc though. I would guess one more commit this week, 2 being a max.
Commit number 2... PJ Lonergan. OG from Rummel. 6'4" 280lbs. Looks to be an above average year in Louisiana for Oline men, a position our state is often weak at.
That is what my intuition told me also, 1 or 2 more. The best of the best seem to want to wait to take all of their trips and enjoy the attention. The good news is that we only usually take the best 10 or so from LA depending on need because we can get better recruits out of state after that. Last year we took about 10 or 11 from LA. The catch is that we have fewer earlier recruits because the elite 10 or so are being courted by national powers such as USC, Notre Dame, Miami etc., It is hard for some of these kids to turn down trips to such renowned programs and commit early to us. Of course it sometimes helps if the kid is from Baton Rouge or nearby and is a tiger fan. Do you have any guesses on who will be next?
The only kids that commit this early have been Tiger fans their whole lives... Yup... see my post above.
Looks Like Number 2 Rummel offensive lineman P.J. Lonergan didnt waste anytime making a decision after speaking with Les Miles on Saturday. After a discussion with his folks, the Raider gave the Tiger head coach a call on Sunday to give his pledge.
Does anybody have any info on if DeAndre Brown came or not b/c im not a subscriber to rivals and they have "DeAndre Brown on LSU'S Junior Day"
A Great Start: From Dandy Don's Top LA prospects we have early commitments from: 10. Clay Spencer, (OL), 6'6", 280, Parkview Baptist. Spencer spends most of his spare time working out in the weight room and working on his foot speed. 13. P.J. Lonergan, (OL), 6'4", 280, Rummel. Son of a former LSU offensive lineman. Needs to get stronger in the upper body.
Now we need Dallas Thomas, the consensus best OL in the state. He is listed in Rivals 100 per another poster. It is hard to get a top 100 guy to commit this early.
