Paul Dietzel was pretty good one, too. Just because it was old school, does not mean he was not great!
As much as I hate to admit it, Saban has been the most successful coach over the last four years. The argument can certainly be made, that, based on that record, he is the best coach in college football. However, it is also possible that he has had an uncanny run of luck over the last several years. It is also possible that the last two games of this season means things are starting to average out. Saban is certainly one of the best, as hard as that is to admit, four more years will determine if he is THE best. ... Please, Lord, no!!!
Looking back at Bama since 2008, they won 3 championships and were playing in the SEC CG and giving Florida all they could handle until the 4th quarter got away from them in 2008, and then the debacle of the kicking game and coaching decisions vs Auburn (Bama would not have lost to Missouri in the SEC CG). So Bama could say they were pretty damn close to playing for 5 national championships in 6 years, as easily as I could and would like to say they should have only played in 1 of them (2009 and lost that one if McCoy doesn't get injured). That right there goes to show you the fine line of being great and being legendary.
Saban hates uptempo football, doesn't recruit the kind of players needed to,stop that kind of offense like Chavis does... we have two nasty mobile QBs here now... with all the skill positions we're recruiting... LSU may be on a swing towards the uptempo offense. Bama will still be good, but times are changing... they're being removed from the top as we speak.
While we are playing hypotheticals, (you say that Bama would have beat Mizzou in the SECCG), I'll go one further and say that Bama would have gotten fucking drubbed by Florida State in Pasadena. There is no doubt in my mind.
that coordinator is now a head coach and coaching for a national championship in his first season as a head coach of an FBS team. I think its relevant. That same coordinator beat the God Saban in his first game against him as a head coach, and his last game against him as a coordinator.
the difference is LSU wins in spite of Miles, Bama wins because of Saban. LSU makes Miles, Miles doesnt make LSU. granted he is a good coach, but not top tier. record can go to hell. look deeper. and yall can bash me if u want Im never here lol Saban is going to screw up, he did when he was here. How hard is it to 3 peat?? good God nearly impossible! that being SAID BOOMER SOONER lol Love it when Bama loses. WHOEVER their coach is.
I wish that Jimbo would have been considered for our HC I said it back when they hired Miles. I always did like his style of play calling. I dont know if he could have done better than Miles but I think he would have.
