Why would any up & coming coach want to come to the SEC west while Saban is still at Alabama? Also, Miles's compensation is 4.3 mil. How much potential money could the university throw at the new coach?
That is my issue. Say we fire miles after this year. We get a new coach, win 9 games a season, and lose to Saban at Bama for 3 more years. What has changed? Maybe throwing the ball to the tight end several more times per year? Nick Saban is probably going down in history as one of the top three coaches in college football history. We may not see any change in LSU's performance until he retires no matter the LSU coach. Just imagine Les Miles's legacy at LSU if Saban had never become the coach of Alabama.
Getting beat because the other team is superior, while sucks, is acceptable. Getting beat because the HC is a dumbass is not. How many championships has Miles pissed away because he recruited well but was too stupid to know how to utilize the talent?
Miles is 9-9 last 3 years vs the west. Saban isnt why hes under pressure, hell if it was he'd be fired already since he lost his last 5 against him. Its because we've fallen to 3rd and 4th in the west losing to the second tier schools consistently as that .500 record indicates. Les' curve is trending downward at a pretty steep pace. A new coach will enjoy their 4 mill, talent riches, sec prestige and 100k seat stadium. If he goes .500 in a 3 yr span, hes fucking out of here too. Problem is, les aint going nowhere im afraid. Been saying we are stuck in this bad marriage for the last 5 yrs. Last years failed coup made him even more untouchable. LSU aint bama. We wont sell our first born for a hc, we just talk like we will. Jimbo was our only real shot.
Saban can be beat, but only if the idiots running the show get out the way. Or if Miles can find the chest to turn around the shit show he calls a football team.
