At this time of year? Not much. Tiger fans are STILL willing to utter those words? Don't fool yourself, they'd sign Saban tomorrow. And even though Saban and Petrino are not "West coast guys", USC is a job that may make a "non West coast" guy think long and hard.
I never, ever understood why SC was even interested in the little prick, but I sure as hell wasn't going to try and stop them from hiring him. He was unproven at every (err, both) previous stop as an HC, so I just couldn't wrap my head around it. Perhaps they just wanted a whipping boy for the impending sanctions; I really don't know. But he's got even less on his resume', now.
I like when USC is relevant, it's good for the game. I'm happy that Kiffin didn't change things though. Their smug attitudes makes it enjoyable when they are contending and come up short. And I'd bet anyone UA is Sabans last job.
Probably right about Saban, but if UT is desperate enough to be relevant again, they could offer him $20M with incentives which would make it damn hard to turn down. Besides Austin has got to be better than Tuscaloserville.
Lane Kiffin seems to be universally hated. His current and past fan bases hate him while the national media considers him to be incompetent. I hope Saban stays at Bama for a few more years. I want LSU to at least get a few more chances to even the score and I also enjoy the fact that Saban makes everyone (nationally) hate Bama that much more.
I fail to see how this is so. When they're merely "relevant", it's a non-stop slobberfest for SC, while other, more deserving programs are often ignored. They are the spoiled child who gets special priveleges for lesser achievements, and I can't fathom how that's good for the game.
Same here. It sounds like something a talking head would say. I agree though, that it is fun to watch them fall when they are relevant.
