Herman doesn't have any real ties to Texas. I've google and goggled and can't find any reference to Herman saying UT is his dream job. Now Chad Morris at SMU- HE wants the Texas job.

I knew UT would be interested in him but the article didn't say Texas was his dream job. IOW, I don't see why hiring him would be a risk ie he jumping to Texas at the first opportunity. BTW, in the Richt thread someone posted a link about Herman agreeing to the GA job. He's not waiting and pining for Texas.
If the people who are paying the buyout give you a single name and say they will pay it if we can get him then the backup plan is keep Miles. If those same people then puss out and refuse to pay the price, this is what you're left with. Alleva deserves his firing too, but it's the fat cats who screwed the pooch by giving a name and then not nutting up and paying the cost.
It's Alleva's job to sell them on Herman, Smart, Franklin, or who ever. If it was that clear, which it is that now was the time to part ways with Miles there should have been several back up plans. Especially with all the media leaks about the buy out not being an issue and the imminent firing. Now LSU looks like a bunch of idiots. Also, that may effect recruiting because despite keeping Miles it shows instability and a lack of confidence in coaching. Which you know will be used against Miles and LSU. So Alleva fucked us and should be fired immediately.
He should be. But the boosters are the ones that put him in that position. They were also the ones who LEAKED the buyout wasn't an issue and that they were United in wanting Miles gone. They fucked us as much if not more than Alleva and they're supposed to be Tigers for life. I'm all for getting Alleva gone but to be honest I'm far more concerned with our bitch ass boosters that didn't have the nuts to front the money. We pretend to have fat cats that fund stuff but you think Bama Boosters would have balked because of an extra million? They would have gotten the cash to make the move. Alleva being a coward or stupid is irrelevant. But when the guys with purse strings are the dumbasses what can you do?
