gotten upset with a player and grabbed him by the facemask? or even lost his temper at a player coming off the field? Do you think it would help inspire his team if he was a little more emotional about players missing assignments?

I know all you want to flame away. Go ahead. This is just a few questions about CLM.

Didn't players like him because he was calm during games? Maybe they feel they could walk over him. Do the players not respect Miles' authority? They do seem undisciplined at times. Who knows, right?

Nah, I don't buy the temperament thing. Bear Bryant was emotionless on the sidelines. Tom Osbourne coached the best college football team in my lifetime, the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers. That guy was ice.

Les's problem right now is his defense is pathetic and his QB's are babies. He can jump up and down all he wants on the sidelines. Ain't nothin' gonna change those things but time and a new DC.

We need an innovative, attacking defense that can deal with the spread, put consistent pressure on QBs, stuff the run, and cover on the back end in all kinds of schemes.

Right now, our D can do none of the above. And it still hasn't figure out the Wildcat formation! :nope:

In the Heart of Geauxld video he looked like he commanded players' respect to me - in fact, I was more impressed than I expected about that exact quality.

    JB,

Being as CLM kicked RP off the team knowing that it was going to hamstring the Tigers this season (and maybe part of next season, too), you would think that his team KNOWS he'll pull the trigger - and that, I would think, should at least make them think twice before doing anything stupid. Or defying his authority or walking over him.

Hasn't it been about a year or more since we saw a Tiger in trouble with the law?

Fear does not equal respect. I know that - but I think the team respects CLM and the decision he made with RP.

Respect goes both ways - and CLM respects his players...I think that respect is returned.

One of the first rules of management I learned is "Praise in public, criticize in private."

Jim Tressel looks pretty calm on the sidelines too, for the most part. And from what I've learned, Tom Landry may have been one of the biggest poker faces to ever walk a sideline, and we know of his legacy.

It's doubtful he would be emotionless after a player jumped up and acted like a fool after laying a big hit---being down 30.

Not bashing, it just seems as if Miles doesn't care this happens.

We could have the flipside and Miles could be going Woody Hayes on someone.

I don't think we want that.

On a serious note, I think Miles has handled the quarterbacks about as well as you could handle them. He's always supportive of them, no matter what.

I think he could have gotten on some of the vets on this team for not playing up to their standards.

And possibly called up to the booth to curse the phuck out of Mallory.

    Just a thought.
