Alleva needed to go first. the wrong change is worse than no change. there was no logical argument. it’s why he couldn’t even land a job as an assistant and had to beg on local radio to get hired here. it’s why no other school in the country ever saw fit to invite him for an interview. not even Syracuse whom he openly begged for while employed by LSU. no. Alleva needed to go first to have a shot at avoiding what we see now. i’ve been pretty vocal about wanting him gone before he had a chance to make any hires in football or baseball. i’ve said it here and other places that Miles time was up. we just let the wrong guy pick his replacement.
undefeated, #2 in the initial playoffs ranking, with a heisman favorite at beginning of November could definitely be described as “quite good”. and since 2 of the 3 month of the season were finished, it also fits the definition of “most”. if having the 2nd best resumé in the entire country 2/3 of the way through isn’t good enough for you, you’ll never be happy here.
That's like saying if I birdie the first hole and stop playing I would be 18 under par. Football isn't played in 2/3 of a season. There's no trophy for starting 7-0 and finishing 8-4.
