Last year LSU got off to a great start 45-0 vs Miss State whooping Vtech we had incredible numbers on defense and crazy amounts of interceptions then we got into some trouble UF kentucky auburn alabama arkansas towards the end of the season everyone was talking about how hot georgia was my prediction is this year LSU will really get going late when our DB's and LB's get experience our dline depth shows even more our QBs turn into seasoned SECers and our WRs and Oline play like they have been hopefully well see shalacking towards the end of the year so we can be extremely proud tigers and Herbstreit can talk about how dominate the tigers are
I'd say LSU finished last year relatively strong. The 1st-3rd strongest in school history I'd say. But nah, for real, injuries ate up last year's team inside out. So many guys (Flynn, Dorsey, Beckwith, Steltz) all played at 75% output and it's hard to bench leaders. But in a lot of cases, those guys should have have taken themselves out of the fold.
Before the season started I would have agreed with this. Getting valuable experience for our young, untested players is undeniably important. However, because of the schedule reshuffling because of Gustav, there's a good chance we are pretty worn down heading into the last few weeks of the season. I think that is going to be a very important time for us. Had we been able to keep that bye week after Bama I would feel much better.
I agree that Gustav put a serious wrinkle into the pacing of our season, but I feel like we do have a team that can finish strong. Honestly, we limped into the Arkansas game last year and barely held on against Tennessee a week later. By the time, we were healthy, we'd have beaten anyone they'd have matched us against in the BCSNCG.
And we all got a stark reminder of how dominate this LSU team was when we finally healed up for the BCS NCG. We didn't list Doucet. His season was derailed due to that nagging injury. He did get healthy enough just in time to catch that fourth down pass against Bama. Still my vote for play of the year for LSU.
