Is a great man. A man of integrity. A family man. A great recruiter. Too stuck in his ways, lacking the ability to adapt. An avg coach who is overachieving because of talent. He has to get his swagger back. He needs to get back to being unpredictable and coaching to win. Not coaching conservative not to lose.
There goes the great "talent" myth again. We are no more and no less talented than any number of other top programs. The winning percentage is not because of luck or superior talent. Despite popular opinion, Les Miles knows more about football than the armchair QBs. Period.
Its not about being smarter than armchair QBs. Its about being smarter than the opponents coaching staff.
And with the record Miles has against opposing coaches, I would say he ranks right up there with the best. We have a bad case of "the grass is always greener" syndrome when it comes to Les.
Les miles is... going to be more successful by simply hiring a kid on Xbox to stand at his side to call the plays as well as call timeouts. It could be a different kid each week out of the stands with say a certain rating on madden even. It would be a great novelty that would completely work and be a genius publicity move. There's no way the offense would be worse either.
Dont get me wrong he and the staff have done a good job of coaching up the talent. I just dont like what I seen two and three years ago and now. The team regresses each week. Its just like those aforementioned seasons. There is no discipline or focus. I feel Miles was a better coach pre '08. He doesnt gamble any more. He is too conservative. Last year everyone knew what was coming but couldnt do a thing about it. Last year was a special year. This year the team doesnt have that ability, we need some new wrinkles. Yet Miles is unyielding. As for the talent. I think in terms of pure talent LSU is up near the top. There are a few teams with similar talent, its about molding that talent. Im not seeing it this year.
here for the duration because he has won a lot of games, though rarely have his teams performed at their potential or lived up to expectations.
