At the SEC level, money can't insure success on the football field any more than it can in Bronx baseball. For Finebaum to have said/thought that Saban's hire was the magic bullet is ridiculous.

Frankly, I think Saban is the winner in this whole thing. He sold the pachyderms a bill of goods and they ate it up like Alpo. Now they've got a stomach ache and realize they look like idiots and they are sort of stuck because of how they acted when they paid a zillion to get him. Shows what Tiger envy they have down there! Imitation, as they say, is the sincerest form of flattery.

W:miles: e should take this as instructive if we have to hire a coach this year--don't overpay and don't expect a savior. Buy wisely and get someone whose first question isn't "How much are you paying?" The first thing a new hire should say is, "I love your program and would be proud to be a part of it."
