How many years have fans been saying that's what needed to be done. It's what all the teams that passed LSU were doing. I think Skip finally hired the right guy.

This is one reason we have fallen behind in the quality of pitchers. We were always going after the best in HS, and they were always getting drafted. The other SEC schools were gobbling up the 3rd-6th round selections, and making them All-Americans. Coach is the right man for the job. Watch out Omaha, we are making plans to see you soon.

Yeah, I hadn't realized that and I think it was tirk who'd explained to me last year that, that was one of our problems with Smoke. That's why I was glad to see improvements in our recruiting dept and also to know PM recognized it too.

It has been troublesome. Sounds like we have someone who recognizes the problem and is taking the steps required to fix it. It really doesn’t matter if the problem started with Turtle or Smoke –just get back to Omaha!!!

Maybe the problem started when he hired guys that were named Turtle and Smoke.

Well, when the head guy is named Skip, those names just seem to fit...

Well the jury is still out on CPM for me. I have a 6'5" nephew from DSHS who
can crush a baseball and runs like someone that is 5'10" while stealing bases.
His nums were less than others due to 2 injuries in HS but he still made All Tourney Defensive Team in Babe Ruth World Series this summer in Newark Ohio.(Denham team was 2nd) All he wanted was a phone call from an LSU coach asking him to walk-on since he was already TOPS along with other academic aid. Whoever the recruiting guy is said walk-ons come out after school starts. Acted like he had never heard of him. He got a ship somewhere else.:geaux:

Baseball is a hard sport to scout and mainly the kids coaches send letters to the school telling them their stats and to come look at them. Starting early on in a kids junior year is when a player can go to showcases and if they do well coaches will see them. Doing nothing and standing back sometimes is just not the way to go. Good luck anyways with his future in college.:geaux:
