Well Florida beating Bama makes them the overwhelming #1 with at least 2/3 of the first place votes. Both Texas and OU being ahead of them in the BCS is mathematically impossible, no matter what the computer polls say. Plus Florida will be higher than you think in the computer polls after they beat Bama and either OU or Texas is idle.
Jeff Sagarin is out and OU is #1 and Texas is #2. It will take a minor miracle for Texas to finish ahead of OU in the BCS later today (as in voters need to change their mind and pick Texas).
thank you for a much needed laugh this morning i would have said that up until the last few minutes of the game. if osu had kept it close - within 3 to 7 pts - i think tex would have stayed ahead of ou. but when osu pulled a classic poke choke, it will likely be seen as ou being "dominant". i think ou jumps texas. osu blew it for more than just needing a win.
I do not particularly like Texas, but they did beat Oklahoma head to head on a neutral field by 10 points. And the coaches poll is going to be a farce because of all the recruiting implications. Just another _______ ___ year in college football...
Not having a horse in the race this year, I can step back objectively and watch the carnage. However, I think it's a shame if OU jumps a Texas team that beat them--and that plays MUCH better defense than OU. I'm aware that a number of the voters probably didn't watch the OU game and only see the 20 point score differential, but that's not the way it was. That game was back and forth, and OU was incredibly lucky on a couple of TD's. Still, I can garner some enjoyment from: a) hearing UT fans moan and groan about the injustice (does it ever get old from AU?) and b) watching a Bob Stoops team get taken to the woodshed against (I hope) Florida in the BCSNCG. I'd love to see that porous defense against Tebow and company.
Nebraska beating Colorado may have sealed their fate as well as Mizzou losing (Texas played both Mizzou and Kansas but OU played only Kansas).
I thought is was a given that we would pass Texas in the computer part of the polls this week? They played and beat a 4-8 unranked team at Home. We played the #12 ranked team on the Road and beat them.
Texas just jumped the Sooners in the AP poll... should be interesting to see what the coaches' poll does this afternoon.
