Yep he did indeed. Like I said it’s not orgeron’s fault you play who you play. I just don’t think we should be giving too much credit.
Also, if the SEC sucks, some of these other conferences sucks too. Hasn’t this always been the case? Saban’s NCs have less value because of sucky opponents?
He damn sure benefitted from the SEC being down. And has been. Hell I think he is partially to blame but again, not really because like GDF said the others must step their game up and only Auburn and Georgia has since Urban Meyer has left the SEC.
The SEC was top heavy this year. Top shelf #1 Alabama #2 Georgia Second shelf but not by a lot 3#Auburn Middle shelf but a long way from the top #s 4, 5 & 6, take your pick: LSU, Moo U, South Carolina. Bottom shelf A&M, Kentucky, Missouri Off the shelf everybody else. So really only 3 teams of any national consequence.
wait, we're "take your pick" in a group with moo u and south cack... we were 6-2 in SEC play and beat the barn... we were a different team after the losses to the cowbells and troy... we had our all american rb hurt most of the year and our all american lb basically quit on the team most of the year... i would put us closer to the second shelf with the war chickens than middle shelf this past season...
I was basing it on the season as a whole. Blowout by Cowbells and loss to Troy kept the Tigers from being higher.
even with the loss to the cowbells, we still finished 6-2 to their 4-4 in the SEC and 9-4 overall... before the season, with what we knew at the time, i think most here (if they're being honest) would've taken 9-4 as a success...
