Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton How can you say that when probably 75% of CS' runs were from behind Johnson? He also blocked for KW at times. I think we used our FB quite a bit.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton You mean other FBs??? If so, none. We will have to move someone over to FB and focus on getting another one next class. Too late in the game to get a quality FB in this class.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton I wonder if we keep stats of that. My guess is LSU uses the FB about 40-50 percent of the time on run plays. Couple that with we throw the ball roughly 50 percent of the time, that limits our FB play to about 20-25 percent. That's roughly 12-15 plays.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton I meant anyone in general. Everyone seemed confident that he was likely to get a regular offer.. and I figured we we would attempt to use that scholarship on a different position or something.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton If you want to use some gorilla math to conclude that we don't use our FB much, that's fine. A bit funny, but fine.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton If Tahj Jones keeps his grades in order he could get a regular offer. Other possibilities are Logan and Johns. Also there could be a surprise recruit we could go after to possibly replace Pratt at RB or any other positions.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton Well we disagree with how often we actually use our FB. Stats come in handy in a case like this to help clear the air. You may not like the results, therefore you dismiss them. That's funny, for sure.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton I dismiss them because of the blanket statement that we don't use our FB much. Go back and watch the games again. Or don't. It's not rocket science. Perhaps if you saw it printed in a thread on rivals you might believe it.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton I watch the games and I don't see us using the FB enough to warrant getting a marginal player to take the scholarship away from someone like Logan. The stats only serve to back up what I see.
Re: RB/FB Alex Singleton I think that's great, except you pulled the stats out of thin air. Why don't you just try to state your opinion instead of making up numbers to give it validity? I took a guess at 75% but don't claim that it is accurate and have not bothered to look for stats to prove it. I suppose I could pull any one game, rewatch it, and list each and every play here but what good would that do? The actual disagreement here is whether or not FB is a valued position on this team. If it is, it is logical to assume we would have at least one backup, when possible. You think that is unnecessary and therefore must think the position has little or no value. Based upon this past year, CS' production, CS' own words, and the fact that the staff pursued another FB, leads one to believe that the FB position is actually of some value after all. You may not want this kid, or not want 2 fullbacks, or you just may want 7 more running backs named Christine Michael. All of that is fine, but trying to downplay the importance of the position will not champion your cause.
