ESPN says the Minneapolis paper is reporting that Favre will inform the Vikes he's going to retire. We shall see.....
ESPN now reporting he has informed teammates and the Vikes that he is done. But check out this quote form the article that ought tell you how decisive this decision actually is: This would be the third retirement for Favre, who also retired after 16 seasons with the Green Bay Packers after the 2007 season and one season with the New York Jets after the 2008 season. ..... Last year Favre told the Vikings he was not going to play shortly before camp opened. But he changed his mind a few weeks later, and went on to record one of the best seasons of his career despite having less than three weeks to prepare. Reports: Brett Favre tells Minnesota Vikings he will retire - ESPN
As much as I think he probably is done, I won't believe it until the Vikings season starts without him.
I think ESPN stroked him a $2million dollar check to say that so they actually had something to report right now. He'll come back....he's just fulfilling his obligation to ESPN. Seriously, have any of you watched SportsCenter since the NBA Finals ended? It's like watching freaking paint dry.
This. What I think is inevitable is that he will "un-retire" the day after the Vikes break camp. The question is, how will the Vikings react....they don't have an Aaron Rodgers sitting in the wings waiting for his turn, so it will be awfully tempting for them to allow him back, if this is how it plays out.
